Won't Start - Any ideas

Bike has sat unused since January - so not too long. Was running great before had. It is a 2007 Tuono R with about 3500 miles.

I just replaced the battery and it shows 12.6 volts (plenty).

All the fuses look good.

Put the key in and everything is normal on the instrument cluster.

Press the starter - I hear a high pitched noise (no cranking) and then NOTHING. Doesn't turn over. Nothing. (I am guessing the high pith noise is the fuel pump)

I rechecked all the connections and checked the fuses several times, try try again with the same result. High pitch noise and then nothing.

Now some other relevant info.
In the process of removing the saddle I dropped the screw "somewhere." I looked everywhere in the bike and even removed the farings and lifted the tank to try to find the damn screw. I didn't find the screw. Is it possible in lifting the tank I screwed something up?

Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated. I am going to replace the spark plugs as a next step but it will take a few days for me to get new ones and I want to get ths bike started yesterday.

thanks so much.

You should get the fuel pump priming noise when you turn the ignition on, not when you press the starter.

Check kill switch is in the out position, and depress it several times to clean it. Make sure bike is in nutral. If pressing starter doesn't even turn the engine over check starter solenoid. Putting spanner across contacts should turn engine over if it has failed.

That's the obvious things to start with (if you haven't checked them already) from a gen2 non-expert!

Gie yer side stand switch a good spray wi WD40 and clean as weel.

Should'nt be too much wrong with it then.
Kill switch in 'run' position?
Bike in neutral?
Sidestand switch working?
Starter button making contact?
If you are gonna spray them with something, use electrical contact cleaner rather than WD40.
If its all good, have a looky at the battery.

Are you sure about that? ???
Are you reading the voltage with a meter or the dash?
Measure the voltage,(with a meter) with ign off,...then ign on,...and then with the starter button pressed.
If the voltage stays good,...11.5v or more, then look towards the starter relay or the starter motor positive terminal.

Problem solved

it turns out the battery connector wasn't tight enough! (this is after taking apart all the fairings, testing everything!) One half turn of the screw driver and she started right up.

easy fault ...seen many mechanics do the exact same thing...usually when trying to rush the job.
