Won't rev above 3000rpm

Hello,
I have a 2005 RSV Mille.
Today I started my bike and it won't rev above 3000rpm then it cuts out without gradually winding on the throttle. Even then it won't rev beyond around 8500rpm and the rev limiter light is constantly flashing. Because of this problem the bike won't pull away in first gear.
Any advice? Is it a faulty sensor?
Any help would be welcome.

Hi Eddie
I'm pretty new to these RSV's and their "ways" but I also have a Gen2.
If the rev limiter is constantly flashing, what revs is your limiter set at?
Maybe it's set so low you're constantly hitting it.
Keep us posted and good luck.

first check the error code before buying a new tps ... if it's in limp mode and don't rev past 3k its usually the oil pressure switch ...error code 47 I think

TPS can be adjusted, but you'll need an Axone/Navigator to do it.

Hello,
Thanks for all your advice.
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you all. I replaced the oil pressure sensor, the 2 small pipes that run from the air box to the carburator and a few other things without much joy and didn't want to waste your time with my hard luck stories :0) Last week I finally managed to get the bike hooked up to an Aprilia fault finder. Turns out the problem all along was a faulty atmospheric temperature sensor (1 of the sensors under the pillion seat). I replaced this and it started first time without a problem. Looking forward to getting a summer of riding under my belt this year!!!!
