Alright guys,

Dolenc has my new shock now (yipee!!) and is posting it over any day now....:thumbup

It was listed as a 2000 shock but Dolenc has been told it is a 2002...........so will i need a different linkage or are they the same up to '03???

Cheers..............:thumbup

Will post pic when Dolenc sends them over!!!:devious

You should be OK using your existing linkage/dogbone.

Just make sure the spacer in the lower and upper shock mount points are the same width as what you have already.

But they should be the same anyhow, just make sure you check it before fitting.

Is it all set up for you?

Length, compression on the spring etc...

Cancel that thread! Spoke to Nejc (Dolenc) and it was fitted to a 98 model so all ok!!

Alan, the spring is set for a 90kg rider, which i am fully kitted out! I'm waiting to speak to Griff on Thursday re; the settings as this shock has high and low speed compression, rebound and preload to worry about!!

PS you still ok the sort my linkage should Griff think it needs it????

In the manual that comes with the shock, are the basic settings for the shock and 90kg rider. So from the start youll be oke :)

Preaty much all the buttons go 13 clicks out from full in :D

Looks good..............:biggrin:biggrin:thumbup

Looking good Andi.

No probs doing your linkage, just post it down and I'll rebuild it for you.

Let me know if you want original Aprilia bearings or the cheap ones (Like mine) fitted.

OE bearings take a while to come through so give me plenty of notice.

Brilliant mate...............if the bearings are good enough for you then they're good enough for me buddy!!

I'll see Griff on thursday and ask him to check them out (as i wouldn't really know what to look for being honest!!) and get in touch mate, thanks alot............:thumbup

Those cheapo bearings are the dogs danglies mate, done over 600 miles on them now and they are still spot on.

All lane work to no motorways for me, so safe to say they've had a good pounding.

Good enough for me bud...............out of interest how long should bearings last anyway????

Best to replace them just before they collapse. LOL

Due to the location of the suspension link and the good old British weather, if you get 2 years out of them your doing well.

PS. That's 2 years of riding not polishing in the shed. LOL

Ah ok........so an annual change is probably the best option then considering they're not an expensive item??

that wilbers is spot on Andi - I'm jealous ;) you'll be streets ahead in the handling stakes now. low and high speed c&r is top stuff

Yeah bud, looks like a real good find (by Dolenc anyway!!).....:thumbup

As for the handling, i hope so!! Pity i can't ride worth a f*ck!!! Need the forks serviced (new oil and springs) and then i've no excuse!!!

Depends how well they've been fitted, i've known good bearings fitted badly at work fail in no time at all. Supposedly engineers fitting bearings to shafts/gearboxes with a steel hammer  (usually electricians :biggrin) If fitted correctly and lubed regular even cheaper ones could last ages :thumbup

Nice one bud.....:thumbup

Alan's gonna be fitting and lubing (oooer!!!) mine and he's pretty handy in that dept so hopefully last a while..........:thumbup

Agreed, all depends on how the bearings are fitted.

Seen animals (Supposed technicians) fit top spec bearings that have lasted weeks instead of years!!

Andi, they will be fitted with care fully lubed up with waterproof grease and sealed.
