Why reset TPS?

I've bought a hook airbox and chip from another member and understand I have to reset the TPS. Can anybody explain why?

If you're talking about the throttle position sensor then no I can't see why you would have to reset it but it's a good idea to check it whilst having the tank lifted.

Does the ecu self learn? and by resetting the TPS it relearns based on the increased airflow?
Just a thought, prob completely wrong..

I beleive the TPS tells the ecu where the butterflies are in relation to throttle openings, this dictates the amount of fuel being sent to the injectors.

You would only need to reset the tps if (with all the idle adjustment wound off and the throttle stop screw set correctly) the diag shows -1 or 1.

Normally the TPS is set correctly from the factory and the screws holding the TPS are locked by locktite.

I'd suggest that you should check the tps using the diag wires once you have fitted the aribox and the chip just to make sure that it is set to 0 as a precautionary measure to eliminate it as being a cause of any problems that you may experience after fitting :thumbup

If it is at zero before i fit the airbox presumably it shouldn't change when the airbox is fitted?

Correct its a physical setting, airbox will have no bearing on the setting.
