Well a mate & i with Mrs on back went riddin down to one of many locall bike hangouts yesterday.... Got talkin to a couple of nice young heros on the new R1 full Akro sys - carbon - lights you name it the bikes look fantastic in black..:thumbup
Now i had the Mrs on the back & my mate on his well under powerred Griso with us so they ask to come along after tellin us the stats on the R1 9.3 hp extra out of the exhaust etc etc you know how it goes..
I suggest if we are holdin you up i will wave you by up the range...round trip about an hour and a half..
SO i let it rip as i was leading after 3 corners i did not see a head light behind me again. Stopped at the top of a 15min run up and waited a fair while before they came into sight with the Griso right on their arse..
It never stops amazing me how capable this Tuono is..... now i am a realist & if a decent rider were on the R1 would have been different but it happens so often i sat on the arse of an MV Augusta 1000 commin down the same range, could not pass him but sat on his tail....
Just lovin the big T to death and felt obliged to share some fun with others that know just how good the bike is..... Towie:cheers

Oh please... dont get me started :lol t
is a passion of mine dropping under sports bikes riders ..with a cheery 'Morning'!! and a cheeky loft of the front wheel...
Trouble with modern sports bikes is the power is squeezed between a tiny range at the top end... sos is a bit like riding a 2 stroke ya have to keep it up there... which means doing riverdance on the gear shift ......
erm 'Hello i haven't changed gear for 5 miles'

and of course the bestest bit ...is coming outta the corner where matey has lost count of how many gears hes gone down and exits the bend at 5000rpm BWAAAAAAAA no power in an R1 there mate.. :lol

whereas the big T just launches onwards at upwards at 5K

scuse me whilst i go to the shed and give it a hug :lol

In a straight line run against a new jap I4 or even the 1098 the Aprilias are going to struggle a bit, they just don't have the power to match it when things get really blurry.

Where the T shines is in the corners. The good suspension and chassis are both first class. The icing on the cake is the great motorcross bars that provide effortless leverage and a body position that makes moving around a piece of cake. My mate on his Mille is a good rider but I smoke him in the corners, in the tight stuff he's got no hope. He put's it down to poor suspension settings, I'm kind and allow him that concession :thumbup

Yes its heaps of fun when they dont even take a second look at nakeds and most dont even know what a Tuono is....
Have any of you fellas done a ridding course?
I have not but am this weekend doing the Stayupright Advanced 1 & 2 never thought i would but since i just turned 40 i might be havin a mid life crisses....

Well worth the money. I've done HART Advanced I and California Superbike School level 1. I'm not Rossi but I have a better understanding of what is involved in controlling the bike into and out of a corner.

I also suggest you get your hands on a copy of Twist Of The Wrist II. It has some good practical information that you can use and techniques to practice.

on the street, the better ride will be faster any day of the week. he must have been a real awesome rider if you walked away from him with your lady on the back. :burnout

Most... and i do mean most sports bike riders are pants... like 'grind my knee sliders on a sander'.. ( i sell my used sliders on Ebay :lol)
Most of em have seem to have no idea wtf they are doing and are little more than a passenger on the bike, trying to emulate the Racers.
You only have to have a look at the size of the 'Chicken strips' on the sides of the tyres to see that..
I mean how many peeps actualy go out on a ride and say to em selfs that they are going to practise their riding, try to improve braking, stability , lean angle... etc... very few ..most just wanna see how fast they can go down the motorway.
Oh the calafornia Racing school is well worth it my GF did level one this year and improved her riding no end.. she is doing level 2 in the spring.

Chunky the Stay Upright School does it at Mareeba Makotrac...... not too often do they come up here so i said **** it put me in for 2 days level 1 & 2 advanced cornering & braking....
Yeh crash i did look at his tyres b4 we went and figured the mrs & i could leave him and really id be embarrased on an R1 having a Griso with half the power tail me up any range..
But they do love to talk the talk dont they..
Mog your right they just want to light it up in a straight & **** was it quick in a straight line man it was awsome and yeh there's no practise or bettering ones ability they guess they have it already sorted.......
Stupid puntersbut it gives us somefink to laugh about and have fun with them..
