Newbie here!

I have been offered a slightly damaged, low milage, 2009 Factory and wonder the general issues to look for.
It has had all its recalls i am told and it has only done a couple of thousand miles(its a friend of a friends bike.)

I hear that there was an issue with some models ODOclocks reseting so milages arent always accurate? That is the extent of my knowlege on the bikes

Can you guys give a brief overview on:
model updates (engines/power and torque)
models to avoid
Recall details
Expensive servicing milestones?
are the bikes reliable?
what goes wrong

I was looking at 999's before but heard about the belt change being ~£1200 through a ducati dealer and its put me off!
I love V twins(also race them) and v4s, and think this is just as good.

Cheers Oh Wise Forum Members, you're our only hope

As far as I am aware, there were no recalls for the 09 models, and the odometer glitch had been sorted out by then. My bike's an 09, and it hasn't been recalled, and the odometer didn't reset when the battery died over the winter.

It's generally a pretty robust machine, and reasonably easy and inexpensive to maintain/service. Can't remember the exact service schedules off the top of my head, but it does require a valve check at its first major service...I think it's 2 years/16,000 miles (someone else may be able to confirm this).

The only problem I've had, so far, is the fuel cap leaking, and a new seal isn't an available spare, so I'm replacing mine with a racing item.

Good luck!
