Which oil to use?

Should really do an oil change on the bike before spring gets here, so wanted to check what everyone recommends as the best oil for the Tuono. Used to use fully synthetic in the CBR, but is semi better for the Tuono?

Any one suggest the best to use?

oh dear lock now you have opened a can of worms ? there is a thread on here about oil for the T but if i remember rightly some say fully synthetic others semi synthetic ?? all i know is aprilia recomends 15/50 semi synthetic which is what i am using :dunno
 
15/50 semi here to,when i bought the bike new this is wat the dealer supplied to me and recommended for when i did my own service
 
I'm still yet to hear of a decent reason why i'd consider using fully snyth when there's the potential issue of clutch slip and new plates.

Semi synth will go in mine before spring.
 
Did try to do a search last night on the forum for oil as i thouhgt it may have been talked about before, but it returned nothing. Maybe i didn't put in the right search phrase!

Will go semi synthetic for the T then as thats the consensus. Cheers
 
The mechanic i've used for yrs says he's serviced a few Aprilias and has used 10/40 semi in all of them with no probs. Mine will be due a service in about june so will probably run with that.
 
i use putoline sport 4 10/40 semi synthetic no probs at all recomended by a mate who works for putoline and supplies aprilia dealers with the stuff

Search engines can't do 3 letters.

Needs 4+ usually.
 
whatever they use at the dealership. pretty sure it's the same aprilia recommended full synth that it came with. I have never used anything but full in any of my bikes and have never experience any clutch slip with any of them. Simply choose a high quality one like amsoil with no moly
 
what grade oil you going for weeksy ? james holland at jhs racing recomended 10/40 said thats what he uses in the tuono of a guy at fast bikes mag who races the bike in some sound of thunder class or something like that , although it probably gets changed every other race . why do v twins generally use 15/50 and most in line fours 10/40 ? anyone know ?

To be honest mate i really really don't think it matters.

Mostly i run Hein Gericke £14.99 for 4L stuff in bikes, i just change it quite regularly. The SRAD will be getting that stuff and only had some in Aug last year and was ridden 4 times after that by the wife.

The Tuono may get a higher quality oil, but i'd expect it's only in there for 6 months or maybe 2000 miles tops.
