Which Chip? - Edwards rep

M

mark99

Hello,

I've just bought an Edwards rep (with the twin exhausts and associated chip fitted).

I am going fit a power commander and custom map as my previous Mille (2002R) benefitted greatly from this.

Is there any benefit in changing the chip to a more modern one or leave the edwards chip (for the twin exhaust) in?

If so can you recommend the chip?

Thanks

Mark

Mark,
you don't need another chip at all, quite frankly the PCIII isn't really needed either because of your edwards ecu but hey if you've got it may as well add it. :thumbup

Deacs :thumbup

Well Iv been out on mine today. Did 2 circuits of some local roads. 1st on the RC8 then on the edwards rep. Well I cant see needing more power on the RSV. It is the smoothest running engine Iv ever had with no glitches on any of the rev range. Aprilias should have come with DR Rossi eproms to start with.

So Mark check its got the SBK chip in it as mine didnt & it was rubbish. Talk to Alain (DrRossi) anyway. Fit 15t front sprocket. And those white rear LED lights - cool on the 03, & enjoy the best bike you are ever likely to own. ahh

Thanks guys.

From my limited understanding, for a "normal" Mille, the power commander (with the custom map from a good tuner) gets the fuelling right and specific and unique to each bike but does not alter the ingnition advance.

The chip gets the ignition sorted and the fuelling set in a generic way for each combo.

So for ultimate set up the chip (ignition sorted and fuel sorted say 95%) and power commander (fuel 100% sorted) is required.

After having my 2002 R set up with a PC from Southern Cross, I felt the 2002 bike was greatly improved and am sold on the benefits of a PC.

The reason I got a Edwards apart from the fantastic looks, is that the power dip/hole in the middle rev range with my tuned 2002 was not able to be sorted with a PC unless the single exhaust was replaced with a double 2 into 2 exhaust..... which the Edwards has.

As regards the Edwards, it's yet to be delivered and I still cannot stop looking at photographs of it as I beleive they are the best looking bike on the planet. I've seen another minter Edwards I fancy too........... would that be greedy? have two Edwards (one kept mothballed) and a 2002 R? lol :)

Rgds

Thats how mine is set up

I use a gabro chip with more ignition advance than standard
& chip set to spec of bike

Then i have a pcIII custom mapped by BSD
