My Mille is coming up to 4 years old and to prevent any sprag clutch issues, although I regularly keep her on an Optimate, I was going to treat her to a new battery. Which one ? Lead / acid, I seen Shorai batteries advertised - any good ? The list is bogglesome.

yuasa ytx14bs all the way

coz i have never seen a faulty yuasa and even a 0V yuasa battery can be recharged and used. personal experience. will never buy some FIAM or other batt as it always ended with a buy of yuasa when i tried to experiment. it is just not worth the 10 EURos for the service it does compared to the prices of the fuel it is nothing...

Just to put my 2 euro's worth into the mix,

I've had Yuasa's fail on me , Ive had other brands fail too. I currently have a 12v 10 amp Yuasa battery in Frankie for the past 18 months and not had any issues.
However I do recommend a battery with the highest CCA and the of course the best price.

yes it is a little bit higher but fits and is much better. usually the 12BS has only 10Ah and the 14 BS has 12 Ah. you need to put some 2cm tube under the holder screw and replace the screw for a longer one though.

Will have a measure up before taking the plunge on the bigger battery.

Will the clocks (mileage) reset as soon as I disconnect the old one or does that only happen after a while?

only 04+ models reset clocks when no battery and it is not immediately so you are safe to do it slowly :)
