Hey guys

I seem to have developed an oil leak and it *appears* to be coming from inside the widget in the picture. We've whipped the plastic case off and poored out a fair chunk of oil. Any idea what this widget thing is and why it might have started leaking?

thanks in advance!

cheers mate

Confirmed it is that thats leaking. Guess I need to find a close'ish dealer then.

If you can take the fairings off to get to it then you're more than capable of replacing it with a new one.

Download the manual and have a go yourself, you'll be surprised how easy a job it is.

Plus it'll save you half hours labour at whatever the local Aprilia dealer charges.

Spoonz sorted me out with mine as the dealer was gonna take about 2 weeks but someone said on here that a vauxhall one would fit, something like a nova

im doing motorway riding, how many miles can I expect to get out of a fresh fil-up of oil?

(i do about 90 a day for commute)

oil switch

Stuzza i have one i can post to you next day as long as you post me one back up when you recieve it mate its brand new sealed in the packet
pm me with address and i will send it down to you.

Thank you very much for the very kind offer but sorted it now :biggrin

Can you believe this though?

I phoned my usual dealer and asked him if I could buy an oil pressure whatsit and get him to post it to me first class and he flatly refused. He told me it was a warranty issue and that he simply would not supply me the part. I told him that im doing 100miles a day on this and can't afford to not have it running and lose £300 a day in lost wages. He still refused to sell me one.

I understand his reasoning but there was no way on the planet the bike was staying off the road.

Phoned Southern Cross and went and picked one up from them instead - no questions asked. :devious

And you were right, I ripped the fairing off, unpluged the old one, let some oil drain out and then put the new one in with some locktite. Fairing back on, and 50miles to work with no obvious signs of leaking :thumbup

Great news. I've heard Southern Cross are pretty good. I may check them out as I'm looking for a new dealer as the nearest one to me is ***** to put it bluntly.

Also, £300 a day? Lucky bastard! :thumbup

SC have been good and bad for me - I made an official complaint against them to Aprilia (they wouldn't service my bike because I didn't buy it from them).

Why is it so dificult to find a decent dealer? :confused

Ah ok. Maybe won't be going there then as that's very similar to the problem I had at my local dealer. There's was a possibility that I was gonna need some warranty work done (although it didn't need doing in the end) and they were really unhelpful, rude and generally made me feel unwelcome. They also overfilled the engine with oil during the first service which was the last straw to be honest. Subsequently I'm on the lookout for a new dealer but as you say it ain't easy.

Thanks for the feedback.
