as you know i have a rsv mille

and its now done 305 miles.

it now has a either big end gone or maybe the little end as out today and wtf after about half hour it went bang

ive just rang the dealer where i got it and was told to ring tomorrow when the boss is in :-?

its 3 weeks out of warranty and on it 4th tank of fuel.

its been making an odd sound since i got the bike but was informed the rotax is a rattler so not bothered by it. i am not sure about that now.

the sprag i fitted was sweet and solved the start issues and that does not interfere with the main engine so not a result of poor fitting as it starts fine etc.

if they wont fix replace etc that's it for me bike wise as im not fixing this as too fooking costly.

and after i checked the shims there was lots of sealant around the cover and im thinking bodging cnuts have probably blocked an oil way with it :wall: :wall:

so ill be giving up the motorcycles for good if no joy :(

Holy sh*t  bud soz to hear that I'm feelinin for ya mebs I could put you onto a lead here........

Was checking ebay for some bikes on ebat for Newby thread tyanton and saw this guy is selling his rsv and has a spare motor for it with a knackered sprag clutch may be worth giving him a shout and asking if he'll sell it yo you??

Had a quick look on fleabay and cheapest compete motor is £350 but its in fife!! I'm sure if you rang around a few bike breakers nearby you might come up trumps for less...........

cheers 2 stroke but the bike is 2 weeks out of warranty so gonna push for a fix by the dealer

that engine is in cumbria !! 300 miles away

Thats **** news mate. If you get no joy from the dealer and decide to change the engine, I have one from an 01 with 19500 miles on. It is out of my personal bike only removed to fit an 07 engine, it has a full service history aswell will take £350 for it.

Cheers
Mark

i could manage that Mark and its what ill have to do as i like this bike

when you say it went bang, can you elborate ?

You sure your flywheel hasn't come loose after the sprag. .

no bin in and re checked that's on tight

it sounds like the big end or the little end as heavy metallic sound like a machine gun.

im sure its down to sealant that was used on the valve cover as it was bodged just like a few other things ive found .

sadly i know the sound of a fooked engine as i used to repair them many years ago and we did recons etc for fords

found this so feel a lot happier

If they go it's usually the crank shell bearings. Later motors had an extra oil spray point onto the crank to help the shells out. If you drop your oil you will know soon enough as there will be metal particles in the oil. Once the hard coating has gone on the shell bearing they break up pretty quick.

Mark used motor sounds like a good deal if the dealer doesn't come through. Bearings must have been tired before you got it though imo.

I would give them the benefit of the doubt initially and see if they step up. If they are not prepared to talk get in the big guns.

And then name them here and print it off and show them. This place gets crawled by search engines constantly which is why there has been a huge spam issue. Their name will be over google quicker than they can say sprag.

well its been settled i said dont take any notice of me giving up lol.

i know its not a mille but hey i was looking at financial ruin with the one i have !!

boss man was prepared to give me 2k for my bike as a refund so i would lose £500 plus what ive spent on it,

or he would allow me the full £2500 paid against another bike.

the repair is not really an option as its a fresh engine and you dont know what your buying

so after much haggling im now swapping my mille for this +£200 from me
he will be collecting the bike and dropping this one off free too so saved another £100 there so happy with the result

its near perfect bar the disc lock damage

only 500 of these made and 2,5k miles so near mint 2 owner bike.

i can get my mate to sort the front guard as and when as he's a car body painter etc

at least i can sell this and it should be reliable but beggars cant be choosers and i do like the screeeming 600 and this model is pretty damn good performance wise

shame my first dip into italian bikes was so brief but i could have got very burnt with this so feel ive got of light
