Hey there can any one help I need to replace my tyres but not sure which ones to go fore was thinking about michelin Pilot power or pilot power 2ct:confused
Hey bud,
Depends how you ride, but you can't go wrong with the 2cts..you really can't..quick warm up, great feed back, quick turning and very positive when she's cranked over..i've fitted a 180/55...however there's also the pilot pures to consider..i've had the 2cts on for about 1.5k miles reckon they be good for 2.5k just..
Michellin highsides? Lol (joking). Personally I prefer German rubber. I'm running Pirelli's Diablo Corsa III's at the mo. I've had some experience of the the new maxxis range and found them to be ok. Personally don't like Dunlop. And as I believe I stated in a previous post, just pick one you like the look of..... For example, I'm going to try some Continental Road/Sport Attacks (haven't decided which yet) next on the bike.
it been said on this forum before and i agree that the feel and confidance you get from a set of metzeler tyres:thumbup if it be sportec m1,3or the new m5 (which i haven't tried yet)or the bonkers racetec can't be sniffed at my last 4 sets have been the metzeler and im always amazed at the grip in the wet ,dry or track admittidly a little short on grip at the track but you can still push hard enough but you alway get plenty of warning when the tyre is on the limit making it fun. same as the in the wet. the reason so many race series use racetecs speaks for itself and this for a tyre in the k3 that racks up decent milage for a track tyre......:thumbup:biggrin
oops forgot to mention i don't work for them or anything :deviousand ive just went and bought a set of power ones for the track, so i will let you know how i rate these compared to the racetecs but even looking at the v front i know there going to turn pretty quickly:doug:biggrin
A lot of the time tyre choices are purely down to whether they suit you or not years ago when i had a Kawasaki Bridgestone were the only tyre that suited me or the bike but since i've had the Aprilia I've had Metzeler M3's 2 sets they are fantastic tyres, Dunlops were ok but 1 set was enough,Pirelli diablo supercorsa were the tyre for out right grip in the dry in the wet they were well intresting, I've now got a set of michelin pilot powers on the bike and find them bloody good tyres i ride fast and they have been true so far not letting go at any time with a firm feel.
When I needed my last set of tyres i was all for having the pilot power pure fitted but The lad that fitted them who race's bikes told me to get pilot powers fitted for 2 reasons first the price and secondly for a fast road rider i wouldn't get and more out of the power pures than i would the pilot powers hope that helps.
There is a lot of lads on this forum that swear by the Bridgestone BT 016's on their bikes.
The only other thing i would change is go for the 180/55 next time instead of the 190/50 with the Michelin they are the only tyre i've found that rub the chain very slightly but is not a problem.
I used Metzeller Rennsport roads on mine last year. Fab tyre with mega levels of grip for the road but sadly it did 1000 miles less than the same tyre did on my R1 so am trying Dunlop Qualifier's this year on my Mille R
my bike had maxis/ super max on it when i bought it so i thought i would keep them on it until they needed changing n then go to my usual bridgestones ,but i must admit they r great, ive pushed my bike hard n they have been sound if they r good enough for guy martrin on the isle of man then they r good enough for me (LOL)

Agree with what was said about the Pilot Power 2CT's, absolutely great tyre. Can't imagine you wouldn't like 'em. Not too pricey now the power pure is out as well. I got over 3k out the rear on my RSV. And I swear the 180/55 2CT that I've put on my Tuono looks wider than the 190 Diablo Corsa that came off ??
If anyone need some cheap rubber. Metzeler Racetec Front and 190 rear (road legal), used for qualifying but with loads of life left. Can sort out some pictures tonight if needed.
£60 +P&P but much rather local pickup in Frome Somerset.
Pirreli super corsas, not the widest rear though , my bike is damn good and i can hold a tighter line than someone i followed for a fair while with a wide one on his, we werent going balls out but i did notice how i could alter line easier and his seemed to run wide in comparison, think they are a bit touchy in the wet though, not many tyres these days that are ****.
