Morning all,

I'm going to get Griff to service my forks soon and want to get some new springs in too. Looking at K-Tech and wondered what type i need?? I'd like slightly stiffer springs as the standard ones in at the moment feel a little soft (i have wound the pre-load in quite a bit and they still bottom out now and again.....used the cable tie trick to judge!)

Any help understanding the difference would be great...............cheers

The standard spring is quite stiff if you have the standard forks, I think its 1.0kg, thats around 9.8n.

If you are bottoming out, increase the compresion a bit. And set the preload the way you had it before, if it was set for you weight.

Thanks Dolenc buddy. I have the standard forks still, i have increased the compression to almost fully wound in with the preload wound out and gradually wound in toi try find the best setting but it still bottoms out after a "spirited" ride!! Landing ****** wheelies obviously doesn't help but that's why i thought of stiffer springs????

How old is your oil in the forks?

Maybe you just dont have the right amount in.

Im 100kg+gear and I dont bottom out under severe braking, so shouldnt be the spring fault.

I've never changed it yet in almost 5 years!!! so may be that??????

Andi, speak to someone at k-tech, tell them your weight and riding style and if its for track or road use, they will recommend the best spring for you, they know there stuff:thumbup
