Alright lads with this being my 1st bike im just looking into the basics ie warming the engine etc etc

I was just wondering what should the Mille sit at in degrees once warmed up :dunno

Cheers lads

Look forward to your info as usual :eatcorn

in traffic 96C open roads, 80C all depends on ambient temp and riding condotions/ air flow over the rads

Cheers HB i thought about 80 myself

anymore input so i can get an average

cheers

Cheers Badboy im getting the picture that 75min and 96 max if its below need to wait for the bike to warm up and if its about 98 stop and check for problems

Open road around 77, in town or caught in slow moving traffic quickly goes up to mid 80's and then onto the fan cutting in once in the 90's.

76 degress for me for normal riding, fans cut in at 96 when in traffic

Same as Black Sabbath...its normally 74 deg, not sure in traffic as too busy watching for idiot drivers

lads another quick question if i may, with motorbikes being partially weekend toys hence not much use and even less through the winter is it a common cause to get condensation in the oil? obviously clear as you ride it same as car but none the less is it a common apperance :dunno

Many Thanks for all the above comments aswell, starting to build up a bit of knowledge on the bike now:thumbup

mine settles between 75/80 also. When starting her i never try and move off until its at 40 miniumum - and then i dont exceed 3k revs - quite easy on such a beast of a motor ;)

the one time i tried to pull away (slowly) before id reached 40 it actually stalled

74 normal conditions, 96 in summer slow traffic and 120 and up when my rad split and emptied(twas orrible-never seen the temp gauge go up so quick-and I was on the way to mugello) thank go for rad weld!
Ck

My one has big temperature differences , i warm it up , set off , few sets of traffic lights and the fans are kicking in (96C), when i hit a fast road it goes dawn to 67, which seems to be quite low to me, then i go back into the traffic and in no time its back in 90's. Is that normal?

Sounds about right...Mine charges up into the 90's - 98/99 before fan kicks in at the slightest hint of slower traffic and then back into low 70's when thrashing along - checked and re-checked the coolant levels etc...all seems fine!!:devious

cool , must be normal then , but i'm not actually surprised having 2 water and 1 oil radiator and a 60C thermostat. Now its cold and i haven't got it that long so will see in the summer , but i bet that it will burn my nutts in the traffic.
