What Subframe? Twin seat conversion...

Does anyone out there know if I can use a a twin seat subframe from a 2001-2003 rsv to convert my 2000 rsvr? I know the part numbers are different but im thinking i might be able to get away with is if i used a seat from the later model too?

the 02 03 subframes will have an extra mounting point on the top for the mesh infills but otherwise straight swap, pm me if you need a rear seat or rear pegs:thumbup

yeah i've done this swap..03 subframe on my 00 mille..go for it...

you will need to take the tank off to get at the undertray fixings right at the front of the subframe...should take 2-3 hours:thumbup

so seat and sidepanels off,rear bodywork and light..battery out, tank undone at both front and rear mountings..then disconnect fuel and overflow pipes,place tank to one side remove all relays from their mountings and ecu...remove subframe and undertray..you have to feed the loom through as you go..if you need to remove relays from plugs make sure you label them

then as per haynes manual assembly is the above in reverse..you will have to mod the bracket on the seat lock to bodywork as it no mounts on the subfame..but this will become clear when you come to bolt it back on.

So the original Mille was only available as a single seater? I didn't know that, every day's a school day innit.

Gone for it! Grabbed the cheapest one off ebay - and a seat and some pillion pegs although i bought a seat for 2000 model? Think i got a bit ripped off on those! Hope it all fits... It looks simple enough to do although ill have to wait a month or two as ive broken my leg! What exactly do you have to do to the lock mechanism?

base models were all twin seaters, only the mille r models were fitted with the single seat frame to save a bit of weight. (and you dont normally go two up on track either

)

nothing to the lock just the bracket...you need to chop about an inch of either side if i remember correctly..as i said..when you come to refit it it all becomes clear..aprilia list 2 different brackets depending on which subframe you have

shame you didnt ask sooner got a pillion seat and pegs here..as for rip off..lol...thats because everyones after them for the same reason:thumbup
