Please could any one recommend me a pillion grab rail for a 2009 RSV Mille R, as the wife would like a ride on the back.
Some where in the UK to purchase from would be great.

rail? on a superbike? she has to hold tight to you chest or belly and on the tank when braking. nothing like holding on sides or back is possible on this bike imho
or you are after something like this?

Good call there Ruck ;)
Or if you dont wanna have to get the allens out when she isnt on the back, search "love handles"

I've got a Renntec, takes two minutes to sort out before I take the Mrs on the back. Too easy almost...

Cheers Philly, is it the model that incorperates the rack? The don't seem to list a grab rail on its own.

It is for my Gen 1 but I also had one for my ZX6R which was also easy to nip on and off when required.

next thing will be to attach a caravan to the rsv... i always wonder what ppl can do to their bikes. if you need a bike for comuting to work, buy a scooter and your wife will be happy to ride with you. it is also twice the fun to go through the corners on full throttle on the scooter than to choke the rsv on a 60 km/h road...

What's your beef with pillions? I go out on my own a fair bit but then from time to time the Mrs will want to go out for the day. Am I supposed to suggest to her that she is not worthy and we should buy a scooter as that would be more suited?

Please, get real.

you are supposed to explain her that you wont make a tractor out of your bike just for her comfort. either take it as it is - incomfortable as riding on a pig because that is the way it was designed by clever italians and they want her to sit and hold that way or stay at home. exactly like that :)
no offense
get real

She's half Italian, you tell her that she can't ride on an Italian bike. If anything this bike is better for pillions than my old ZX6R. Also to make a point, fair enough you have a beef about pillions but you only own one bike and therefore don't dictate how others use theirs.

Have you thought of using a different approach like Triboseat. http://www.triboseat.com/

I used it on a previous bike and was very impressed. It's pretty cheap too. The need to hold on is less when the arse does not slide on the seat.

and it doesn't ruin the lines of your bike!

mine is as well (half italian) and she accepts it allthough had a lot of talking after every ride so now she has her own rs125 superbike
i dont dictate i just wonder why you buy a ferrari and then need to attach a caravan to it just because she has the mood for camping with that...
i hope you can find something which will answer your initial question anyway if the tank holder is not right for you i dont think that the ride with her will be even close to safe if she holds some rails behind or aside

Thanks Rob I'll give it some consideration - but a pair of those handles shown next to the saddle in your link look idea, although I expect they are model specific & factory items.

The Falco has handles a bit like that I think. I had a big Yam a while ago with (factory fitted) handles like that but you need something substantial under the plastic to bolt them to. Adding them as an aftermarket accessory not easy.

Triboseat well worth £13. Some people buy the grippy material and make them themselves. Like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOOL-BOX-...IP-MAT-STOPS-SLIPPING-MANY-USES-/251043102227

Is it worth it to save £8?

Rob :)

Thanks everyone for your help & replies. Just got a Tuono pillion pad with handles which the wife reports to be excellent.
