A psyche professor at a popular Big 12 school in Boulder, Colorado, has recently made a statement in his class by saying: “ It is a FACT, that if you buy a motorcycle, that you have also bought yourself a DEATH ticket!”

What do you think about this FACT statement made by a professor at a major university?
 
think he needs his balls cuttin off and shovin down his throat,toss pot.
why are all these alleged intelligent folk wasting their time bad mouthing bikes and bikers?
they should try finding a cure for cancer or something usefull ffs,stick to what they know(which doesnt seem to be much nowadays).

you can crash in a car/on a horse/get knocked down just walking,agreed theres not much protection on a bike,but the idiots you pass in cars when on a ride out are unbelievable,they so lazy and ignorant of everything around them on the road,they really do think theyre sat in their armchairs in their living rooms when driving.

he should have said,if your going to drive try not to kill any bikers!
 
He's a proffessor therefore an academic who has never done anything remotely exciting and spent all his life with his head in a book or up his

I personally would ask him to substantiate his FACT with the FACTS that he has used to come to his FACTUAL conclusion, and to define the time scale that the DEATH ticket is applicable for....oh, and does it come with a full refund guarantee in the event of not dieing :confused

Actually, does he have a death related thesis on rollerblades? :nana

FACTS eh? aren't they great...unfortunately none of us live for ever, so we all have a 'death ticket' no matter what we do in life......what a pillock!
 
I thought I would look up a couple of "FACTS" about this situation. Tell me what you think. I know they are all US stats but it was quick and easy for me to find. I wonder what they are for you guys across the pond?

There were an estimated 6,420,000 cars involved in accidents in the US in 2005. The cost of these accidents exceeds 230+ Billion dollars. There were about 2.9 million injury cases and 42,636 car accident deaths. An average of 115 persons die each day in motor vehicle crashes in the United States -- one every 13 minutes. According to the World Health Organization about 3000 people die in crashes each day worldwide.

In 2006, motorcycle rider fatalities continued their nine-year increase, reaching 4,810 (a 5% increase from 2005) and exceeding the number of pedestrian fatalities for the first time since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) began collecting fatal motor vehicle crash data in 1975.

So the next step would be to ascertain the number of cars registered within the US compared to the number of motorbikes registered within the US, together with the numbers of newly passed licence tests. If possible, you will need year on year numbers for at least two consecutive years. If you can then obtain an average mileage travelled each year for vehicle type, you can derive a probability of death in relation to specific vehicle type per mile travelled and the relationship to licence tests passed. Then get the figures for total deaths in the US for each of the years in question and subtract out the figures for vehicles and you'll be able to derive the probability of non vehicle related death against vehicle related death.

i hate these morons spouting there ****,the mcn seems to donate a full page to a new ***** each week,they shouldnt give em the time of day or press coverage,i.e the ***** that said we dont need a bike over 600cc or the crap about 45% of bikes are untaxed then admitting theyd fooked the figures up and it was sumat like 3% and they hadnt taken into account sorn bikes.

get a LIFE! id rather die early oing sumat i love,than live to be rinkly old stuffy prunes like most of these,at least id feel i had actualy lived before i snuffed it.eunochs.
