ahve hud agvs aria etc, and a got the shoei the noo and a thinkk its a belter o a helmet, fits ma heid braw in aw, no that ahm saying ahve a funny shapit heid mind

I have used AGV for the past 15 years. Very happy with them.
Having said that, I recently bought a Shoei X11 (Shakey Byrne) for the Mrs and it is very nice, comfortable and extremely light.
I will be considering a Shoei for myself this time.

My Shoei XR-1000 is one of my favourite lids. Qiuet, comfortable, and top quality. I've also got an AGV V Flyer and Stealth, both St Andrews editions. The Stealth is a tight racing lid that my chin touches the front bar. Tops at the track, noisy for touring. My HJC Carbon is way light, smells of the resin used even after two seasons.noisy as well, bit it's a race lid. I also have a Scorpion X700 that is plush snug and quiet. Fantastic helmet for the dollar. Pain in the *** to wear with my glasses though.
If the helmet is a race lid it has been designed to flow a lot of air to keep the racer's head cool. All that airflow means NOISY. Get a lid more designed for the street.
I heart my Shoei XR1000.

I bought my second Arai helmet 2 years ago and really regret it! It's bloody noisy! Noisier that the Quantum it replaced. My next helmet will not be an Arai!

Currently have an AGV Ti Tech Rossi Dreamtime and an Arai Rx7 Parkes rep.

The AGV is a very different fit, very moulded and contoured inside. Can't say there's a lot of difference in the noise.

I had a Roof Diversion which was different for noise as wind was higher, but engine noise lower.

Different lids seem to be better for different frequencies of noises.

I have an Arai Chaser Grey Camo.
Love the thing to bits, and soooo comfy, but it is noisy.
I had an X-lite before and that was much quieter.

Any of your mates got one in your size that you can just try on for a quick blast to compare ?

Ask father xmas for 2 lids. I have a Caberg flipper for if I'm doing a lot of stopping ie fuel or whatever and both an AGV and Aria for any speed/distance riding. Out of them two I would choose to keep the AGV. Consider a lid with a drop down sun visor to, very handy.
You could probably get a good race rep AGV and a ? other make for the price of a premium end lid.

I have a Schuberth R1 - reasonably quiet, but you need the chin guard thingys.
Probably not the coolest lids on the street, but they have the inner sun visors, and are quiet enough for Liz and I to talk to each other with comm's etc.

The S1 is quieter still, but a bit BMW.

had a arai years ago it were bloody noisy so flogged it and got me a shoei had 3 since then . mate has a arai he says its noisy also. also started to wear earplugs aswell the bike sounds like a bag o nigs when i forget to put em in. also the visor hinge system is better on a shoei

oh bugger i ordered an arai chaser this morn and reading this thread just now is a sickener:bawling i should have waited a little longer and waited your advice lads but its done now, pitty coz i was wanting somthing quiet,:banghead
ive had 2 xr1000 and loved them but fancyed a change, well give it a few weeks and ill hopfully be back telling you guys i love it(or maybe not):cheers

Don't be disappointed mate, it's a great lid, just not that quiet. Of all the lids I've owned over the years, it's far and away the most comfortable and one of the lightest.

An Arai RX-7 Roberts replica. By far and away the best helmet I have ever owned. It is feather light and very comfortable to wear. It is a bit noisier than some and it even states this in the documentation you get with it. I always wear ear plugs anyway, so it's never been much of an issue. The weight saving and comfort factor far out weigh a slight level of increased noise.

I always had Shoei's in the past and the Arai is better than any Shoei I've owned (although I haven't tried any recent Shoei helmets)

I have just ordered a new Arai RX-7 GP to replace my current lid.

I've had 3 AGV's now and find them comfortable and quite light. I wear ear plugs, even without them its a good lid. A pal of mine recently bought the xr1000 and reckons its better than his old AGV.
