Wash your bike with??

Do you just use normal soapy water or is there a specific product you can buy to wash it with. I don't fancy using my Auto glym car wash on it as it contains a wax and don't want it streaking on the bike.

So come on guys what do you use to wash your bike??:thumbup

Hi mate...I just use basic car shampoo & after rinsing, finish with a micro-fibre cloth, seems to do a good job. Loads of stuff out there....Muck-Off I think is a popular cleaner...sure you'll get a load of responses..all the best

Auto Glym car shampoo works well especially if you wax after.
Im quite anal, here's my list...

AG/Halfords Shampoo
FS365
MucOff Cleaner
Mucoff PTFE
MucOff Wax
Silicone spray
AG Instant Bike Shine
Plus parrafin on the chain, wax etc etc

I don't use a bucket and sponge on mine at all.

I use Ultra Ion on mine - Click Me - All you do is spray some on a damp micro fibre cloth and wipe away the dirt. Then buff it up with a clean dry micro fibre cloth.

Look at my garage, the shine is amazing.

Plus you don't get any water in the electrics etc.....

Looks pretty impresive mate, where do you get it from and how much is it going to cost me??

You can get it off Ebay or via that link on my initial post.

To degrease the swingarm I use Halfords alloy wheel cleaner (Non acidic), spray on and leave for a few minutes then rinse off with water. Once dry clean with Ultra Ion and it looks like new.

I use it on my cars too when the local council decide to impose hose bans. Which is every summer here in Kent.

Sorry, forgot to add that the small 500ml bottle lasts a whole year on my bike.

Oh man... This is my Kinda thread.

First things, In this weather never EVER use your bucket of warm water before you have rinsed all / most / as much as you can of the SALT off the vehicle,

If you dont ,the warm water will activate the nasty cheshire Rock Salt the council's put down on our roads and then it will eek its way into your frame and other hidden bits.

After you have rinsed it down get 2 buckets one with soapy water (car shampoo is fine)
the other with warm water.

Its easy sponge in bucket of suds then on bike, rinse in the clean water and repeat.

EASY

I use Autoglym engine and machine cleaner it smells good and is kind to plastics but is great on chain lube etc..

When your done use a microfible flannel to wipe it down.

I use Autoglym polish and then finish the plastics in Extra Gloss Protection, all the cleaning really does make it a lot easier next time and adds value to your investment !!

Rainx on the screen as well

Crikey Eeza are you a professional valeter or what?

That's more like ritual than a Sunday afternoon cleaning session.

Suppose it looks good though when finished.

I tend to use Muck off every now & then.

But normally use ''Mer'' Super Advanced Shampoo. Tank, wheels.

Together with ''Mer'' Ultimate Polish mixed in.:devious

Then a special acrylic polish for the plastics.

Rainex on the screen when i can find it.!!!!

Then an anti glare/mist special pink bar of soap type thing for the inside of the visor & on the mirrors.:thumbup

Amb67, You think I have OCD take a look here : http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/index.php

I dont think you need to register but you have to see how far these guys go....

Have a look in the Showroom and the Studio ! Awsome work :)

OMG I need to make friends with one of those guys.

Did you see the wheel arches on the Audi, you could eat your dinner off the suspension arms and exhaust.

I'm off down the shed to clean my bike - Not !!!! LOL

They take cleaning to the extremes.

Theres a section where they show any "project and restorations" OMG !

Couple of Bikes in there too

Just had a quick look at a black hyundai, in the gallery you could go swimming in the finish they achieved, its amazing they got such a beut finish on black, looks like i will have to do some serious polishing to my bikes and cars this summer.......:thumbup

Cheers for the link to the site,

I love that site, there are some really great theads on an Audi

I'm gonna PM that guy in Ashford (About 15 mile from me) and ask him if he wants to do my bike.

I supply the tea, biscuits and chat, he can do the elbow grease and sweat. LOL

I've always found Zymol to be excellent - both shampoo and wax polish. Also Miracle Shine (by muck-off I think?)

TT

I use 99 Cent Downy, Palmolive, Ajax Dishsoap or whatever I can find handy and I use a 33 cent ScotchBrite sponge to gently wash my bike and I clean the dirt off my bike whic came from commuting in LA while offroading, shoulder driving, grocery bag avoiding and the vomit/steel plate jumping, bug catching while posing for the chick in a compact car.. lol ... I use the scrub side of the sponge for my tires and the rims and then I dry the high mineral water spots with a towel and spray with Meguiars quick wax and wipe it with 99c faux sheep skin towel. well it takes about 15 mins to get it dirty again on the road. lol It's a bike! it's suppose to be a lil dirty! hehe

Dont use any kitchen type Dish soap, Its full of SALT and strips of Wax and Polish. Its great if you buy a car and want to start from scratch but avoid it any other time.

And when the kids come washing cars in the Summer you can bet its parmolive in their bucket :D
