Does anyone know what Akra this is on my bike :dunno, its oval and its sealed with rivetts and very light.

Ive heard of many types of AKRA mentioned on the site but mine are sealed so guess they were the cheaper option ones :confused

Yep its rivveted round the end, but ive heard of AKRAS that have the internal wadding that can be replaced via allen screws.. i guess these are for race track use only or maybe its another make that im thinking of. Mine did have not for road use on but somehow it got pollished off :devious, IVE HEARD OF OPEN CANS , whats that :confused

Packing is easy to replace, just drill out rivets dismantle can repack and re rivet, open can is basically a straight through can with no internal cats and other restricting crap, IE a race can

What ever mine is its bloody loud :scared, sounds like no internals, but when i get the bike back ill be checking everything out including to see if its be de-restricted through the air box :thumbup

Oh is that good then :confused, my first AKRA and it was on the bike when i got it ... sounds good and runs much better than the standard can on :thumbup

they are a good can akra's go really well with the Aprilia's same as arrows, some pipes go better with some bikes better than others

So if i wanted to replace the wadding i would have to drill the rivetts out but instead of re rivetting it back it would seem better to just replace with allen bolts. I guess that to have it re packed from a dealer would cost a fair bit and to be able to take the packing out on say such as a track day would be an advantage.

How would i know if the can needs re -packed :confused

Personally Steve it wont be worth the hasle of taking the packing out as it wont make any difference to the performance and if you say it's as loud as you say it is you have to remember that a lot of track days have a noise limit that many V twins with race pipes on border on that limit and as for taking the rivits out you'll need to re-rivit it

Yep, im not sure how mine got through the MOT with the noise level its at but its loud enough to get everyones attention if you know what i mean :devious, one blip behind a ingnorant car driver and they all pull over :thumbup well they must be deaf if they cant hear the AKRA megaphone :scared.
I wont bother messing with the can then as its not worth the hassle and the packing can stay in if its got any at all :thumbup

It's the best choice not to mess with the internals.this week I took Sprockers new mille for an MOT and all they done was made sure the lights worked there brake tester had stopped working so they did'nt even do the brakes but it had only done 180 miles since the MOT

The bike will lose performance if the packing is almost gone, it will also be very loud, the exhaust needs the packing in there for back pressure, don't take it out , to repack is easy drill the rivets out, remove packing, repack then re rivet, allen bolts have nothing to fix to inside so rivets are your answer.

think MOT time?? unless you know someone who will let it slip through???

The race can was on it when it was MOT`d , ive heard of this before and my last bike zx12 went through MOT with race can on too. Ive got the standard pipe also and for being standard its the loudest standard can i have ever heard, although it is as big as an oven :lol.

Im going to leave the AKRO on and keep with the deep throaty sound :thumbup, it must be ok as ive never had any trouble with starting her up so it must have enough back pressure.. Thanks all :thumbup

Yep unless its a gearbox :lol , then wait 6 wks to get it back :jack

they are only use to working on crap mate, obviously never had anything special in there:thumbup

They did slag off aprilia about the parts service but then again they ordered them and it only took a few days to get them... not 6 :mad1 wks to find the problem. Not complaining i just want it back now and only 2 days to go :woohoo

As has been suggested above....I would advise leaving well alone. The can is exactly the same as my double set up...but I've got removable baffles for Mr MOT, however I go to the same place as Mr Sharky so not really needed....just enjoy the noise!!?!!
