Rather than (or as well as) what was your First Aprilia. What other bikes have you owned?

I started in 1975 on a puch MS50D moped
Yamaha RS100
Kawazaki A7 350 twin. An absolute pig which broke down and never went again 1 week after buying it.
Yamaha RD400E which I ruined with rear sets and a nose fairing
YAMAHA XS750 which came to.a sorry end the lamp post didn't look too clever afterwards either
SUZUKI B120
Yamaha XS 400 seca
Kawasaki GT750
DUCATI 906 A PIG which the dealer took back in exchange for
Ducati 907ie. Lovely bike
Suzuki RGV250 rode like it was on rails. Great if not fragile bike.
Honda CBR600F
Honda CBF 1000 competent bike but oh so boring
Honda VFR1200F. Lovely bike lost in a garage fire
HONDA vFR 800 X crossrunner (rubbish suspension and just not a big bike feel
Aprilia 1200 Caponord Rally Raid. loving it 1 week in

Alright, here's my delinquent list.......

err, should I start with the CB175 pre licence in 1974 ?.......sorry, never rode that on the road officer......;)

1974-CB360T.....well it was brand new and green & had upswept sporty mufflers and no brakes in the wet.....I was 17yo and new squat.....:p

1977-CB750F2....black engine, pumper carbs, another upswept 4-1 pipe, no brakes in wet...fancy ComStar wheels....;)

1979-Z1000ST...shaft drive, green, first set of panniers to a bike (glassfibre BMW R100RT copy style....heavy, strong.....all ya could get then).

1981-Z1000J1....sexy, fast, tall, very nervous steering on wet roadworks..panniers kept cracking the frame....it was RED though:D (prob shouldn't have grafted the panniers on from above....but Ayers Rock was calling....- hey, my first "adventure bike".....).

(add a black CX500 and a red VF750S shaftie in as brief flirt with second/third bikes)

1984-VF1000F....for 1 year.....it was fast, black & grey....but top heavy with 23Ltr full tank.

(add a white XS1100P shaftie curiousity buy from a friend.....big, heavy, smoothie)

1984-FJ1100....space age looks for 1984....very comfortable..red & white.

1989-FJ1200....better but heavier....great touring workhorse.....90Hp...who hoo..it was pearl white & silver something??

1993-FZR1000 Genisis.....yeah baby....that was mind warping fast......120Hp rainbow colours with....errr, purple wheels:eek:
1994-FZR1000 Genisis....1st one used oil due to full syn....this one I used semi...and did 150,000kms including a motor hot up with pistons and crank balance after 100,000kms.....sweet bike..

2002-CBR1100XX Black......nice....130Hp fuel injected ...two up in comfort..400kms range..sleek:cool:

2005-CBR1100XX Blue.....now I know what I had with the black one.....what a great bike that is well built and lasts forever.....130,000kms only a cam chain and drive chain...and Ohlins suspension...D (and and Givi pannier system.....light years better than the 1980's fibreglass cases & railway track mtg frames).

2015-Caponord 1200 (04/2014 model).....down on power (105rwHp) but up on smiles (on road)...RED naturally...fully set up TP spec....the story continues........:D

2017- KTM1290GT.......and I thought I would keep my beautiful Caponord forever........temptation.......horsepower.....;)........never satisfied.....

Some blasts frim the past there from my wish list.
Was totally underwealmed by the genesis when I test ride it back in the day. Craziest bike I rode was a Suzuki XN85 turbo was either off or on. Totally mental ☺

Cheers Heinz.......the Genesis was stupidly equipped with 130/60F and 170/60R rubber, and once I put 120/70 & 180/55 profiles that all the other sports bikes were running it was transformed into one of the best.......even better with (if I recall correctly) a sprocket change from 17-46 or something to 16-42 ....whatever.....but it got rid of the really tall gearing which was meant only for race track green light takeoff's......not for the road.

Now what bike does that remind me of here..?....and I thought engineers knew their business.......;)

Mustn't be too cheeky......after all I bought a KTM......what does that say about me....??

DKR scooter (is that a bike - perhaps not)
Ariel Arrow 250
BSA Rocket Gold Star
Norton 650SS
BSA 500 Shooting Star (Norton stolen)
The following rarely cost more than £20 and rarely owned for more than 6 months. That's how it was done as a student in Sheffield in the 60's
Triumph Thunderbird, Ariel 500 single, 600 Scott Squirrel, Panther 600 single, Ariel 650 twin, Norton International, Velocette Venom 500, Vincent Comet 500.
Sold some paintings (art student) so built a 650 Bonneville engined Triton which I ran for many years finally being raced)
Harley 750 sidevalve (ex wartime despatch bike in 8 tea-chests of parts containing almost two bikes for £10) Stuck a sidecar on it (foot clutch!) and rode it all over Europe after my Triton had been consigned to the track.
Ariel Square Four
Egli Vincent 1000
R90S BMW
Norton 750 Commando S
Finally found Japanese
Several SOHC 750 Hondas including racing one in a sidecar. The last one was bored out to 900.
Kawasaki Z1 (already 900 later enlarged to 1075)
Honda CBX 1000 (also raced in a sidecar and enlarged to 1103)
Suzuki GS1000S (bored to 1098)
GSX1100
FJ1200
Several Yamaha 900 Diversions covering over 60,000 miles
Aprilia Futura
Several FJR1300s (70,000 miles plus)
Suzuki SV1000 (track days mainly)
Ducati Multistrada 1200 (yeah - track days too!)
Honda Pan European 1300
Two Yamaha 1200 Super Tenere's (40,000 miles)
Aprilia Caponord

Quite a list (and I've almost certainly forgotten a few) but I have been riding 54 years mostly two up with my wife. 2 years ago we counted that we had covered over 500.000 miles on the road. Unfortunately Anno Domini of the knees prevents her riding any more but I ain't ready to give up yet!
