does any body out there know for sure what a standard 2008-2009 Tuono Factory kicks out(b.h.p why's)at the rear tyre as i am thinking about getting another Tuono(my 2003 model has 23000miles on her now)but it is confusing me as catalogues say one thing and people say another:crazy.:banghead.My 2003 Tuono is doing 129.7 bhp at the back tyre(few mods)dyno printout,i have been told the Tuono Factory has 133bhp, is that crank or rear tyre(prob crank!)PLEASE help as i want another to keep the mileage down on old April:lol and i aint gonna sell her as i want 140bhp at the back tyre out of her, should get that with some 56mm throttle boddies, bigger valves/head work, cams, bigger bore exhaust with GPstubby and remap.Tuono Bambino' rules!

according to the forums, it's 139bhp at the wheel.

If you need more than your 2003 is putting out, you're either in WSB or you're riding it wrong.

get the throttle PINNED to the stop.... don't just wind it up... WHACK it open... HARDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD !

Careful here.

There are 3 engine variants

the V990 - Tuoldo motor was about 125 crank bhp
then followed
the "Titanium" motor fitted to early (pre 07 UK, 07 US) Tunuo's was 133 crank
after 07 UK (07.5 US) the last variant
the "Evo" which is the 139 bhp crank motor.
Factory models should all have Evo engines.

Knock off about 12 for rear wheel figures from the crate.
V990 - 113
Titanium - 120
Evo - 127

The engines have successively bigger valves and throttle bodies, 51mm, 54mm & 57mm respectively.

If you get a new model (get a factory saves on suspension tweaks later) you should be able to get a set of Akra slip ons easily - they were mostly given away with the bikes as a promo deal in 07 & 08. Mod the airfilter and swap the map, you should be somewhere in the ball park you are looking for.

PS - Slider we are neighbours - I am over in Barton.

What is the "airfilter mod"??

Is this drilling the airbox or something??

Or is it simply fitting a aftermarket filter?

:cheers

Air box kits

There is either the Evoluzione racing airbox mod, or I am pretty sure Renegade still do one.

Renegade have moved to portugal but if you send them an email they will give you details.

Also check out the sister site RSVZone, one of the lads there makes them I think.

The only dyno I've used for all my bikes has been in the seat of my leathers.
EG, its bloody quick, or **** slow. Good enough for this cynic.

Thank you for the most cogent reply to this silliness. If your johnson is so small that you have to rely on stats to make yourself feel better, maybe you should buy a 'Busa or ZX1400.
Andiamo has enough chutzpah that I have a great time riding the **** offa her. And I haven't found any public roads that i can do thusly, ergo, trackdays.

Nail hit squarely on head methinks:kicknuts

Apologies to OP, but I really don't believe in dyno charts. Apart from variations between individual dynos, there are too many variables involved to put a lot of stock in obtaining HP figures on a piece of paper. Good as a guide to tuning maybe; but certainly not the be-all and end-all.

Seat-of-the-pants fell is more appropriate anyway, I feel. As Weeksy so eloquently stated:If you can pin the throttle on your T all the time, then go racing, my boy.

Having said that though, Paul's links to airbox mods are really useful for chasing a few more bolt-on HP.

new version tuono quoted as about 139 at the crank, but magazine reviews i've seen generally record about 121 on a dyno.

Thing is, its all a bit meaningless. There is no way on earth I can use all the available power on public roads and still be alive by teatime. If ultimate power was all important, we'd all have a busa.

A dyno tune, as in getting a PCIII mapped is worth every penny.

Bragging about peak power is bar-room ******** at best, and only viable if all bikes were tested on the same dyno, on the same day.

BUT

Using the graph to sort out the power delivery is well worth it. My Tuoldo is set up for a smooth power graph, I am sacrificing a few peak bhp, but gaining 10+ mid revs on part throttle, which is more value to me day to day.

thanks lads

when i got the 'T' i made myself a target of 140 at the tyre(we should all have a target to aim for)and i do ride her hard.I dont bragg just give facts and request relavent imformation to help me with my quest.:thumbup
