it looks in good condition for 61k miles

I know of a few bikes with low miles that have been nailed and thrashed to within a inch of their lives every day on a track and get sold at 4k miles for the next new bike.
I take each bike on its individual condition now and bugger the odometer

Thats the problem these days, so many people only use their bikes 3 or 4 times a year, and people have become used to any bike with over 10k miles on being classed has high mileage,,

But if looked after mileage not a big issue with a lot of bikes.. A female friend has a 99 CBR600 with 85k on and the engine is smoother and quieter than her boyfriends 17k mileage model..

My previous GSXR had 50k and again no faults..
RSV engines should be strong, Rotax have a reputation for biulding strong engines.

yeah, I always rack up the miles on my bikes(gotta dont you?)
My 02 now has 46k, no probs at all, v. clearances only needed doing once, sprag clutch fine, clutch plates only slightly blued when I put the STM on. People seem to be scared to put any mileage on their bikes-prolly its the new bike every year crowd that perpetuates it.When I kill (eventually) this engine I'm just gonna swap it for an 03 engine.

In same boat..Due to redundancy and now part time work, there's no way I could spend the same again on another..Mine now has 12k on so hopefully will be trouble free for a long time to come.

certainly should be mate, I put 12k on it a year min. just change oil regularly and keep it serviced.
cheers Ck

Might be worth a look renevator, he sounds like he'll do a deal to get rid quickly. Depends what budget you have, and how much would a new engine cost if it was knackered :dunno

Yeah, not only that but what else needs replacing at that mileage.....bearings etc. I know from doing my VFR that those things can mount up. I swore to myself that I'd not buy anything unless it was sorted, but then you come upon these potential bargains and it gets you thinking. Main problem is I don't have a garage, so working on the bike is a bit tricky - my wife's banned me from dismantling a bike and bunging the shiney bits under the bed again :biggrin
(Mind you she was well patient last time - took me forever to put the damnthing back together).
Mmmm, time for a bit more investigation.
Cheers

really depens how its been looked after, linkage/swingarm and steering head bearing are fine at 46k on mine(so was the clutch plates) Though you prolly shud replace them before they fail. I think you will have to have a good play of the moving bits and see how they are. The rotax engine is fairly bullet proof

Agree with all was said but have several friends with bikes with 100, 120, 150K without problems. Bmw, Hondas, yamaha with 8-10 years old.
With proper use and maintenance believe that Rotax engine can do the same.
Mine was bought 5 months ago and only have 7K but expect to put at least 70K on it :angry

That does look rather nice and it's only 4 miles down the road from me. Spydz is in the market for one and this would be worth a look I'll send him a pm. Good find Legs :thumbup

......OY!! GET OFF !!!! THAT'S MINE !!!! :biggrin

Only joking. Nice example, and on reflection a much better bet. :thumbup

aye i know - its so people can hpi the bike - dont see the harm tbh.

Ive just not bonded with the Mille like i hoped i would :( and ive fallen in love with the 98 r1 red and white colour scheme :) its such a classic, and ive not had an il4 yet (last bike was a 748):
