Well don't say the boys from Wales don't ride in all weathers. Stix and myself decided to brave it today. Nice and bright said the weather forecast and it was nice and bright when I left at 11.40. Well it was until I'd ridden about 5 minutes Westwards to meet Stix in Brecon and it started to rain. Keeping a positive mental attititude and riding to where the Sun looked to be shining I rode onwards (if I hadn't have been meeting Stix I'd have turned back) towards Brecon then saw a wave of rain driving over the Brecon Beacons. *****. Midday meet which I duely turned up on time for (15 minutes late by Stix's watch but dead on time for Bay time). There's GMT, European Time and Bay's Tuoldo clock which is spot on Bay time, normally 15 minutes later than everyone elses (Trickymicky fell foul of this time delay last week as well).
Anyway met up at the usual Homebase meet and saw Stix hiding under a tree in the dry. Where we going then, we're off to Crossgates. Now Stix being the uber prepared time and hard nut of the Tzone flock decides he's cold as he's forgotten to out his inner jacket lining in "You know anywhere I can get a T shirt mate?" he asks. I think for a minute say I've no idea and as we set off remember Cotswolds outdoors in Brecon must be open which I ride towards (kind soul that I am) so Stix can but an ultra fleece (he'd have been off with a full blown waterfroof regatta but hindsight is a wonderful thing).
Off we go to Crossgates and it starts to rain. Lovely wet greasy roads and we eventually arrive and take refuge in the cafe. I don't think i could have persuaded Stix to stay any longer as I think I put leaving off for about hour and half as I was facing the window and thinking hope the bikes start in the weather. Well we fill up and head off and it decides to absolutely piss down. Windstopper jackets are shower proof not downpour proof so I have water running down my neck, boots, my crotch is soaking etc. All in all and eventful day. I don't really think the rain slowed us down much. U'd have to be going some to find the limits of tyres nowadays and no dramas on the Pilot Road 3's at all.
Anyway heres a few pics of the bikes after the ride when we'd stopped back in Brecon (must have caught a gap in the rain here). They were stinking which can't be seen in the pics, then there the photo at the end of Stix looking skyward and praying to god is doesn't rain any more on the ride to Bridgend.
My leathers are still trying to dry out in the house but all in all I had a bloody good ride.
