Got ma first look st the new steed yesterday, kindled it up an noticed it stammered a couple times before kicking into life, sort o turned over slowly for a couple seconds then fired, done same this morning,, canae mind my other wans dain that, goin by the extent o the bike, ahd think the last owner would hae done any o the usual things to rectify any problems as he's no left a stone unturned Wi the bike Wi any ither part o it,,

seany, yer know the script wae them mucker but check yer battery anyhoo.

Stuck it on the trickle fir a few days ally,,, and I'll try it again mid week, see if it any different, dinae ken hoo long it sat in the dealers , micht hae been sittin idle in the dealers fir weeks,,,,,

I've had a couple of milles and my tuono. Best advice I can give us change battery at first sign of troubles cos it is a main weakness of these bikes and I think it can cause a problem with the starting mech in later life if you let it struggle

See above, get new battery. If using optimate the display shows 13.7v when charging, it should show some amps too. Mine shows 12.????v on normal fully charged, and zero amps

Fit the bigger Yuasa YTX14-BS which has a larger 12ah of cranking power"¦:thumbup

I got one here that i bought for a Dorsoduro only to find out it wasn't a battery problem, it's only a month old and back in it's original box unused..

£35 delivered if you want it ??

Cheers

Having owned the Racing for just 4 weeks, here's a heads up on my battery , solenoid, and charging 'adventure' so far.

She was having intermittent (turns over very slowly sometimes) starting issues, so..........

I did the brown connector and rectifiers wiring mods to improve charging etc
Charged the new-ish battery on a tender for a while

(nothing changed, still not starting well)

......so I switched out the solenoid for the 'approved' Yamaha one.

Still no change, so I put my finger on the starter connection, and blistered my finger; there was so much resistance at the starter motor (caused by corrosion) that it was about a zillion degrees at the terminal connection.

So I pulled the starter out (2 minutes), got the electrical connection apart, cleaned it , and greased it (to prevent any more corrosion); problem solved.
Typical - a $0.05c problem with $200 thrown at it!

Good find mucker, just a pity it took $200 before yer found it.

Well at least yer know yer shouldnae have any probs from whit yer sorted.
