Guys, Aprilia's are not exactly waterproof when it comes to the british weather, and I constantly find water residue in my rear hump, where my alarm sit. You can guess what happens every now and then. The alarm trips and immobilise my beast. So, does anyone know the best way to waterproof an RSVR 02?
Please:confused

Use the car in the rain:thumbup:thumbup

Seriously though I doubt there is very little you can. Waterproofs are for the rider not the bike.

You can get rubber draught proofing strip from B&Q. It has a sticky backing, so maybe it would seal around the seat hump. Worth a try.

Put a surgical glove around your alarm & cable tie it around the cables! Job done.

I was thinking along the lines of a rubber bag of some sort, great minds and all that!! Surgical glove may be a little fragile :dunno

I've positiond my alarm between the side of the subframe & the insde of the tail piece. Its cable tied to the sub frame. If you use a surgical glove, and fix the unit so it will not move, the glove should not split. Make sure you have a good seal on the wires too.
this will also stop the damp getting in if your bikes left out side in the winter.

I was looking under the hump on my RSVR, I have no pillion seat, and you can see a lot of light coming through. I have to find out if this is a common situation with all 02 RSVR or just mine. I cannot believe that everytime it rains, my RSVR has to take a leave of absence. The engine will take a bullet, but it seems that the bodywork was finished by a primary school pupil.

Take the alarm off, they are a pain in the arse anyway!

Agreed no flat batterys either had my bike sat in the garage for 3months and had loads of life left in it:thumbup

Dont think you should have such a gap though buddy when i look in my tail unit i cant see any light shining through

Unfortunately, not an option. My RSVR is not a weekend toy, but an everyday travel tool. It certainly gets me to work in top mood.

Neither is mine, but I had loads of problems and alot of them stemmed from the alarm, since it's been taken off the problems have vanished.
Nobody takes any notice of an alarm going off anyway, get a big chain, or even better a big dog! :thumbup

Now, that's interesting. So, without an alarm, there would not be any electrics in the tail, is that correct?

You will still have some electrics in the tail. There are about 3 relays in there & a Link wire that supplys your coils.
