Want to buy, Any advice?

Hello to you all,
I've just joined as i am desperately trying to sell my current bike and move forward in life by buying an RSV.
I'm after some advice really. I'm after an 04/05 RSV Factory if possible. It is all money dependant.
I've been looking on ebay and so on but am wary of some of the bikes i've seen. Is service history essential, Is there anything major to look for and am i wishing with a budget of about 4500?::

Hi Welcome
Budget doesnt seem unreasonable. There's a 2007 on ebay at the mo in your price range and its a real looker too.

Have a romp around the forum you'll get a pretty good idea the bike is solid, very good engine, iffy electric but usually easy fixed by what I've read.
I personally would want a decent service history for use when selling on and for a 2005 +/- typical mileage bike most should have it.
Good luck

£4500 will get you a very nice 04/05 Factory. Also look at 2006 model RSVR 1000's.

Service history is essential yes but also spend your time looking for a pampered unmolested one which has been kept indoors preferably on an Optimate.

Early bikes suffered from mileages resetting to 00000 when the battery was disconnected so be wary of very low mileage 03/04 bikes with no history. Check service book and MOT's. Faults to look for are corroded immobiliser connectors, faulty stator and wiring connectors, clutch master cylinder self bleed problems and Ohlins fork seals leaking. Batteries need to be 100% too to avoid poor starting leading to sprag clutch failures. Other than that they're pretty much bullet proof.

Read up all you can on this forum, such as race cans, map 2, gearing mods and happy hunting

What bike do you have at the moment?
I may be interested in swapping-fancy getting back on a inline 4.

currently got a CBR900 RRX (99) up on ebay, What year is your RSV? I've kinda set my heart on an 04/05 red/silver or grey model.
Its annoying, can't really start looking seriously til mines gone.
