Hi all
I noticed Rob's pics showing his bike packed with gear. He had his Ventura bag sitting on his seat and tent/sleeping bag on the rack. I always attach a 2nd rack over the seat with six or so stainless hose clamps. I've travelled from Hobart Tasmania to Phillip Island, then toured over to Adelaide and back. Covering a 1000+ kms without any problems. This way your seat and rear panels don't get scratched etc. Also when going to rallies thers more room for bottles of Jack:thumbup

Thanks for the tip Perry!

Ventura seem to advocate putting the bag over the rear seat as it aids weight distribution and stability, the VENTURA bag is secured over the pack rail and tied to the rear facing rack. It sits on the seat ok and clears the tail unit so shouldn't be any problem with rubbing - but I will keep an eye on it!

G'day RBD
The other advantage of using a dbl rack your tent, sleepbag and bag are supported. Less chance of loosing anything off the back when punting along fast.Instead of buying the bag frame there is/was a "parcel rack", was available her in Australia.
In Tassie we can ride a loop of the state in 1 day,(early start & no cops:rolleyes)! Longer rides of a couple weeks requires going to the "Big Island" up north via overnight ferry.Have a great trip.:drool
Cheers Perry
