Valve cover gasket?

Hi everyone,

I recently noticed my tuono smelled funny a bit when starting in the morning so decided to investigate a little...

I do have an oil leak of some sort, seems to be the valve cover gasket but thought it would be wise to ask for advice before to invest the time and money necessary to replace it.

You should know that the front (right on the photo) carburettor clamp was a bit loose and was apparently letting some air/fuel mix go -hope that makes sense I'm not a native speaker..- which makes me wonder if the black stuff seen on the valve cover is there because of a faulty gasket or simply because of the pipe bracket issue??

Thanks for your help

Ben

Job to say from the pic.
Yes,it could be the loose clamp has caused some of the oily mess,...but also looks like oil that has come out of the engine breather and into the airbox. The drain pipe on the right, under the airbox,...its black with oil/fuel stain.
The box could be leaking a bit,...the oil mist will go everywhere.Nip the lid off and check if its oily inside.

I'll do that tomorrow and will let you know if it is.

I've been wondering about the black pipe..

Couldn't wait.. The drain pipe was a bit oily indeed. Opened the airbox, cleaned the bit of oil that was in it. I think I'm gonna have to change the filter as well..

I'll clean the rear cylinder head with some brake cleaner tomorrow and will let you know if the problem is fixed as soon as I take the t out.

Thanks!

Could be the oil tank has been over filled at some time,....or it could be too much thrashing and big wheelies!:yes :roost
