phoned dealer to ask about 12000 mile service and valve clearance check and they said to adjust clearances engine would av to come out ...never right is it

On the v4 the engine does not have to come out for valve adj

Mines booked in for the same job on July 13th and no the engine won't be coming out :lol

Looked into service costs for the V4 back end of last year.
Had a ring round a few dealers and 1 (in Leeds) said that they drop the engine as it makes the job easier.
?
 
when they say the engine needs to come out, its a euphemism for your trousers need to come off.
 
Any of the UK boys had this done yet? What kinda cost is it ? Any recommendations for dealers in the north east? My bikes just about to hit 8000 so be close to 10'000 by end of season was gonna get it done while it's laid up for winter.

Ok, V4 went in this morning with a little over 13k on the clock.

Just had a call from the dealer and all valves are within spec, collect it in a couple of hours.

Jim Allen in Falkirk for all you Scotlanders.

Will let you know the cost later.

£150 all in sounds good to me !

I guess they would charge more if they need "adjusting" ? (assuming its bucket & shim and cam out each time - sometimes have to do it twice if the valve is tight to start with as they cant "measure" anything to work out the correct shim size = £££ Labour)

It would have been a LOT more if they needed adjusted.
