Been for test ride on the Tuono V4 today at the Rocket Centre Blackburn. It looks better in the flesh. it does all the things the road tests say it does. It is small, ok for me but bigger guys will feel it to be a tight squeeze with their knees pushing into the tank. It is very smooth and pulls well to say it only had 34 miles on the clock. Handles well loads of feed back inspiring confidence. Superb brakes and yes a back brake that works! The quick shifter works well, when I got use to holding throttle position and changing up ( very smooth )
I don't think the name Tuono is right for this bike. It does not sound like thunder and you don't get the air box noise as it sucks the life out of the world. However it does sound quite good.
To sum up would I buy one? Yes if I had the funds. But I would also have to keep my V twin.

Forgot to add, seat is like a plank.
I think anybody taking a test ride will not be disappointed.
Be aware you may want one!!!

Agree with all that.
Took Wheels (Taz) demo out today for a good blast.Fook me,its an incredible machine.Only 170 miles on the demo but the motor felt loose and it revved like a good'un.Plenty of torque up to 6k rpm then it goes ballistic. The intake/exhaust note changes from a dull groan to a nasty snarl,...its very addictive.:devilThank fook for wheelie control tho.I'm no wheelie expert by a long way,but went by an old dear in her little Peugot and gave it a big handfull.Fookin bike reared up and then front wheel hovered about a foot off the deck while I changed up thru the box,....awesome.Quickshifter is fun but pretty useless on the road really.
Nowt wrong with the handling, the bike feels light and you can really chuck it about.
I'm 6ft 1 and found there was plenty of room for me.Seat is hard tho, every bump bashed my boney ***.Clocks are further away than the Gen II T but fairly clear.Gear pos indicator was handy coz I had'nt a clue most of the time.
Riding mt Gen II T back home felt like settling into yer favourite armchair.Big and comfy and the motor felt lazy after the V4.
Would I buy one?Tempting as it is, not at the moment.I think I would be losing my licence pretty quickly if I owned one,....and I've just got some points back!:yes

Hi there all. Just joined up. I rode On Yer Bike's demo last Thurs and bought one! Sadly, I'm having massive trouble actually getting anyone to confirm even a rough delivery date for a yellow one. Frustration is not the word. This is what I wrote about the bike on another forum I frequent. Any info on delivery if others have ordered them would be appreciated!

"Well I've bought one. Not much of a sniff of a deal. OYB were confident they could sell their allocation 3 or 4 times over so I paid list but got a few things chucked in saving about £500.

The bike itself? In a word, awesome. Felt very planted and stable. Even under hard acceleration no bar flap and you could feel the anti wheelie working without being overly intrusive to the acceleration. The fairing "wings" they've incorporated into the design are obviously very necessary and in the flesh the bike looked great. So much better than the photos. It felt fairly light but not quite as flickable as the Street Triple R or the Brutale 1090RR. I'm guessing the wheelbase might have been a but longer but I've not looked at the specs to see. The finish of the bike was glorious. Really beautiful part polished frame spars and a huge chunky swingarm looked gorgeous. Sadly, the black was not a totally gloss finish with parts of the tank and front mudguard finished in a matt texture which is disappointing. It's not as "matt" as the previous Tuono or as grainy as the Triumph finish so I'll live with it for now but might look at getting the matt bits painted in time, especially if it's a pain in the *** to clean. Sadly, the ******s have put rim tape on the black but at least it's factory finished and not too thick.

The motor is awesome and the shifting of gear ratios and lower down torque made it feel twice as good as the RSV Factory I rode the other day. It has 3 maps, road, sport and track. Needless to say I kept it in full power track throughout. It was smooth, no jerkiness but still pulled like a train from mid range onwards. I played with the traction control cos you can adjust it whilst riding. Got the comfort blanket interfering a couple of times in levels 7 & 8 *but lower down the range didn't push it at all to it's limits. OYB were keen to make sure they had a bike for the weekend test rides so I was warned not to push it too much! Didn't try launch control or turn the wheelie control off but did set it at it's lowest and had mucho fun lofting the under power in second under hard acceleration and letting the ecu gently (and it is gently, reintroducing the front to the tarmac like a gentle kiss rather than an abrupt power cut and fork seal bursting slam dunk down) lower the wheel again. ******* awesome fun! Wheelie control also makes pulling away a laugh cos you can nail the throttle in first and act like a gently nodding donkey with stupid thrust acceleration inbetween the front being put down. It sounds intrusive but in reality it isn't and I believe it would see off most bikes on he road from the carefree acceleration point of view. I bet launch control is hilarious!

Suspension was fine. Out of the crate settings were firm but not harsh and road bumps were dealt with without any pogoing or being launched out of the seat. The steering damper did control most bar flap but it did shake a little under hard acceleration on a bumpy section of b road. Mags suggest the adjustable Ohlins is worth the cash. Best I start saving.

I was concerned the brakes might be a little soft without a radial mater cylinder but to be honest they were fine with a nice amount of power similar to monoblocs and the few "hard" braking practices I did failed to show any fade (not surprising really) and produced some nice feel. I'm not sure a radial master cylinder would be necessary but a trackday would answer this one once and for all.

The new exhaust system seems quieter than the Factory's older larger standard silencer but as the revea increased past half way the note does change noticeably. The carbon Akky slip-on is £950. Not sure I'll be able to stretch to one for a few months!!!

General comfort of the bike was fine with one exception. The reach to the bars felt fine, the legs are not too high or too low and you feel fairly high "on" the bike rather than "in" it. Fast twisty roads were a pleasure and not once did I feel like it wouldn't steer enough. I had to remember I only had Kevlar jeans on at one point as a nice fast left just begged to have my knee introduced to the road. Luckily I remembered and backed off a little. I can't wait to ride mine with leathers on! The exception is the seat. It's ******* awful. Feels alright when you prod it but just 10 mins down the road and my *** was starting to suffer. I've never sat on anything so uncomfortable. It made my 03 CBR600RR seem like a ******* sofa. I will be lookin into getting the standard seat repacked with gel inserts. It's a must.

Couldnt give a **** about fuel economy. You don't buy a Ferrari expecting good economy so 100 miles to a tank on a V4R Tuono I can live with. It ain't going to be toured on, it's a weekend toy for me. So some matt paint panels not my cup of tea, rim tape is still for losers and a seat that makes stress positions in interrogation training seem hugely comfortable compared don't let it down at all. It's not just the best naked I've ever ridden, it's the best bike I've ever ridden and the minor disappointments can and will be sorted.

Is it a keeper? - doubt it but ******* hell I'm going to have fun on it until something else replaces it.

I'll be the first owner of OYB's batch and can't wait. It's biking mojo on steroids"

Why do I find the bike more attractive when some of my mates post pics? The "pro" shots really don't look good to me but when of us posts some pics that he has taken in the real world, the new T looks soooo much better! Can anyone tell me how it compares to a Gen II in riding pos and ergos. 6'1" is *almost* normal size. So if he can fit I'm thinking 195 cm will fit too. Again, though, I am NOT divesting myself of my lil' Andiamo!
Cheers boys!

Yes mate,Gen II is like a comfy armchair compared to the V4.The seat is softer, bars are higher with a nice bend that is swept back to the rider.
The seat on the V4 is a ******' plank,...after around half hour on the bike,my arse felt as though it had been kicked by the entire England football team. The 'bars are lower/flatter and further away from the rider, not too bad,but it does put a bit of weight on yer wrists.Riding position reminded me very much of the Duc Streetfighter.

hi moz. i have a yellow 1 on order and was told 3 to four weeks. ive had a deposit on 1 since December so its comin with the first batch
people that put deposits down on saturday were been told mid july. im not saying this is the case at all of the dealers but it is at mine.

Which dealership Pia? I've had a deposit on one for about a month and was promised a black one for delivery first week in June. I have swapped that order to yellow and Piaggio have promised me the same delivery period. I don't believe them!

J&L motorcycles in carlisle. i also had a black 1 orderd but changed me mind when i sore the yellow. not to sure when this was but it must be at least 4 weeks ago . the guys at J&L have been true to there word and never give me any crap imfo so i have no reason
to think it wont be here when they say. fingers crossed.

Had a proper ride on a demo yestaday, Pissing down with rain and a bloody strong winds,Just the right conditions to stay in the dealers Coffee bar. Oh **** did i enjoy myself. A big fat yesssss. Used 15 pounds off petrol went from Swindon to On Ya Bike with the idea of road testing there Multstrada S. And of course the Tuo v4. Two birds with one stone. As you might have read elswhere on this forum. My Diavel has been on the Dealers workbench for over 5 weeks due to factory recall No 833 **** up. And lying ******* dealers incompitance. Anyway im thinking of getting Rid of the bloody thing. Im 60 plus yrs old and have had lots and lots of normaly Jap models, 09 V Max. zx12r Hyabusa SP1 LTD 1800 intruder and on and on. Im not bragging its just to give you an idea of how much i think the v4 is such a god almighty Awsome bit of kit. I could go on and on of praise but just to sum up, a few observations.. It will ride slowly round town. Honestly my arse suffered for about 20mls then it either went numb or i got used to it. g.box brill. steering lock same as v twin Non existant. At speed the wind moves the front wheel and it feels like its going to tuck under. Finding Nuturale as( v twin )nightmare. But oh **** where did my petrol go to. And that was in the pouring rain. Must admit i werent hanging about. Non of this is real moans. Just what i found. Brill Brill Best bike iv ever ridden. No Doubt. As your rideing it, Your thinking Oh **** that was good, Oh **** so was that. F**k me i didnt know i was that good, Oh **** didnt know a bike could do that without me feeling scared. the only thing i dont think i could live with is that the looks of the bike even in yellow will never draw a crowd at the Ace Cafe or anywhere else. I dont care who you are everyone wants a small dose of Poseability. The praying Mantis look of the VTwin had it. It had the look of a bike that was about to kick you in the Nuts. But this V4 i cant get my Taste Buds around. Its def a Marmite look. So regretfully have decided, Although i realy love the bloody thing Im going to give it a miss this year and wait for the Factory Version next year, That will almost certainly be fitted with the latest Bosch system 8 A.B.S And Ohlins and maybe more suitable paint job to go with the odd looks. Roll on next year

Some good reports there lads. I went in to Maxmoto in Bury the other day and took a look at their demo. Like others have said, it looks better in the flesh than the photo's. I was pleasantly surprised, as I have been critical of its looks in the past. I'll have a test ride, and can't wait to try the gadgets, but at £11500 I wont be ordering one I'm afraid! Maybe I'll wait for the second handers to appear though...
