Hi there all. Just joined up. I rode On Yer Bike's demo last Thurs and bought one! Sadly, I'm having massive trouble actually getting anyone to confirm even a rough delivery date for a yellow one. Frustration is not the word. This is what I wrote about the bike on another forum I frequent. Any info on delivery if others have ordered them would be appreciated!
"Well I've bought one. Not much of a sniff of a deal. OYB were confident they could sell their allocation 3 or 4 times over so I paid list but got a few things chucked in saving about £500.
The bike itself? In a word, awesome. Felt very planted and stable. Even under hard acceleration no bar flap and you could feel the anti wheelie working without being overly intrusive to the acceleration. The fairing "wings" they've incorporated into the design are obviously very necessary and in the flesh the bike looked great. So much better than the photos. It felt fairly light but not quite as flickable as the Street Triple R or the Brutale 1090RR. I'm guessing the wheelbase might have been a but longer but I've not looked at the specs to see. The finish of the bike was glorious. Really beautiful part polished frame spars and a huge chunky swingarm looked gorgeous. Sadly, the black was not a totally gloss finish with parts of the tank and front mudguard finished in a matt texture which is disappointing. It's not as "matt" as the previous Tuono or as grainy as the Triumph finish so I'll live with it for now but might look at getting the matt bits painted in time, especially if it's a pain in the *** to clean. Sadly, the ******s have put rim tape on the black but at least it's factory finished and not too thick.
The motor is awesome and the shifting of gear ratios and lower down torque made it feel twice as good as the RSV Factory I rode the other day. It has 3 maps, road, sport and track. Needless to say I kept it in full power track throughout. It was smooth, no jerkiness but still pulled like a train from mid range onwards. I played with the traction control cos you can adjust it whilst riding. Got the comfort blanket interfering a couple of times in levels 7 & 8 *but lower down the range didn't push it at all to it's limits. OYB were keen to make sure they had a bike for the weekend test rides so I was warned not to push it too much! Didn't try launch control or turn the wheelie control off but did set it at it's lowest and had mucho fun lofting the under power in second under hard acceleration and letting the ecu gently (and it is gently, reintroducing the front to the tarmac like a gentle kiss rather than an abrupt power cut and fork seal bursting slam dunk down) lower the wheel again. ******* awesome fun! Wheelie control also makes pulling away a laugh cos you can nail the throttle in first and act like a gently nodding donkey with stupid thrust acceleration inbetween the front being put down. It sounds intrusive but in reality it isn't and I believe it would see off most bikes on he road from the carefree acceleration point of view. I bet launch control is hilarious!
Suspension was fine. Out of the crate settings were firm but not harsh and road bumps were dealt with without any pogoing or being launched out of the seat. The steering damper did control most bar flap but it did shake a little under hard acceleration on a bumpy section of b road. Mags suggest the adjustable Ohlins is worth the cash. Best I start saving.
I was concerned the brakes might be a little soft without a radial mater cylinder but to be honest they were fine with a nice amount of power similar to monoblocs and the few "hard" braking practices I did failed to show any fade (not surprising really) and produced some nice feel. I'm not sure a radial master cylinder would be necessary but a trackday would answer this one once and for all.
The new exhaust system seems quieter than the Factory's older larger standard silencer but as the revea increased past half way the note does change noticeably. The carbon Akky slip-on is £950. Not sure I'll be able to stretch to one for a few months!!!
General comfort of the bike was fine with one exception. The reach to the bars felt fine, the legs are not too high or too low and you feel fairly high "on" the bike rather than "in" it. Fast twisty roads were a pleasure and not once did I feel like it wouldn't steer enough. I had to remember I only had Kevlar jeans on at one point as a nice fast left just begged to have my knee introduced to the road. Luckily I remembered and backed off a little. I can't wait to ride mine with leathers on! The exception is the seat. It's ******* awful. Feels alright when you prod it but just 10 mins down the road and my *** was starting to suffer. I've never sat on anything so uncomfortable. It made my 03 CBR600RR seem like a ******* sofa. I will be lookin into getting the standard seat repacked with gel inserts. It's a must.
Couldnt give a **** about fuel economy. You don't buy a Ferrari expecting good economy so 100 miles to a tank on a V4R Tuono I can live with. It ain't going to be toured on, it's a weekend toy for me. So some matt paint panels not my cup of tea, rim tape is still for losers and a seat that makes stress positions in interrogation training seem hugely comfortable compared don't let it down at all. It's not just the best naked I've ever ridden, it's the best bike I've ever ridden and the minor disappointments can and will be sorted.
Is it a keeper? - doubt it but ******* hell I'm going to have fun on it until something else replaces it.
I'll be the first owner of OYB's batch and can't wait. It's biking mojo on steroids"
