Just been quoted £199 for a first service (600 miles) on my bike, is the dealer taking the p**s?

When you consider that Motul 300v 5w 40 and a filter (cos it takes just over 4l) will come to around £100 I think it's a fair price to be honest.

A can of that oil on eBay is £50 and a filter is £10 tops so I would say yes they do take the piss,if I buy a new bike I say I want a free 1st service and never been refused yet

Except you need 4.3L and even at ebay prices that is around #70 without a filter.

I here what you're saying, but £200 to service a bike that has cost you 15k in my view is a drop in the ocean.

Having said that I do all my own servicing apart from valve clearances because I enjoy doing it.

I picked up 4l of 300v on Saturday from my local dealer. Retail price was £64.99 :lol

Cheers gents, my supplying dealer are way less that the price I've been quoted, approx £140. That's the thing with servicing, you have to get it done to maintain the warranty. The other thing I have been told is that if the service schedule states every 12 months or however many miles, if you don't reach the mileage, you need to get it serviced at the 12 month mark again to maintain the warranty.
I don't mind paying it, as you say, it's a £15k bike.

Just had a quote for £220 from my dealer then got my mate to try same dealer 15 mins later and they told him £230 wtf . Gonna use j.s accessories Aprilia in Doncaster £100 all in and they are an official service centre so warranty o.k on my 1100 factory.

The cost of the first service is on face value looks expensive, but break it down your in fact paying for a service and another years warranty!! costs around £200.00 then looks better value

Totally disagree . When you by the bike it comes with a warranty . All these dealers over charging on services is a piss take which it sounds like you are condoning . We need to stick together and stop bending over for greedy dealers

If it wasn't for dealers we wouldn't have the bikes support them or loose them simple.

Katoom 1290 sdr,,,,,,,,,,,,,,phoned the only dealers in Nesbitland aboot gettin the brake recall done,,,,,,,,,,,,,,how much fir an oil and filter change.

60 notes fir the oil, 30 fir the filter and 1 hours labour takes it tae £160.

It's in the book if that makes a difference.

Of course yer do mucker,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,who da fuckk needs dealers.

Warranty disnae mean yer get servicing fir fukkall,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you use it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you pay fir it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it's yours.

IIRC I paid circa £140.00 for my first service 2016 TV4 Factory and about £160.00 or the 2nd year service.

It's ok for you to say support the dealers when you only paid £140 for your 1st service . But the £220 I was quoted is extortionate . I figure buying a new bike every two years is supporting the dealers.break down the cost oil £60 , filter maybe £20 1 hours labour must then be £140 . Support dealers charging that . You must be ****** stupid .

Not stupid or ****** stupid either.

Maybe I should have said "£220 that's way too high robbing tw4ts, mine only cost £140, shop around and you will get it cheaper" and pandered to you instead of being a little more rational about the subject.

just get it done and stop your whinging...if you get your years warranty for 200 notes or so then its a bargin..i bet you dont blink an eyelid when spend 400 notes on a set of rearsets because you dont like the colour the oe ones came in or spend 200 notes on a small handfull of titanium bolts..

Where do you get this £200 for the warranty **** from . It comes with any new bike. Not gonna argue the point anymore with you two sounds like you might work for Aprilia or just enjoy having your pants pulled down by them . Enjoy

ive just been quoted £230 for the 3rd service, yes I think this is expensive , as my warranty finishes in May ill be trying to negotiate a cheaper price or go elsewhere, or go down the DIY route,
id prefer to get a better price and let the dealer have the work, our local dealer is really good and helpful, via moto Sheffield,

for those whose bikes are still in warranty and need the dealer stamp, I can only quote this recent happening of events,

a local rider of an rsv4 rf, posted on a facebook page, his bike dropped a valve, engine foooked, went through the dealer whilst still under warranty and had the bike collected, a new engine at a cost of £8500 installed and bike returned, in just over a week,

so from his view point I suppose £200ish for a service was well worth it,

the dealer in question was Via Moto Sheffield, as I said, very good dealer,

Hi i have a MY 17 Factory with TFT dash . I am In the UK. These are my service costs.
I have owned it from new and it's stock no trackday stuff or commuting just day riding and i am not a hard rider I am more of a roll on guy not grab a hand full of the loud handle type ( well not any more )
I don't have a service book my mate who got his Tuono 1 month early does but when you go for a service to a main dealer or approved service centre they should log it on to Aprilia's system so ask for a print out of the Scheduled Maintenance Coupon and the receipt or invoice for the work you have had done.
Uk tax is called VAT at 20%

1st service July 17. 848 miles 1 hour labour £50 + tax oil and filter , sundries
total inc tax £ 148.00

2nd service June 18 . 6,190 miles 1 hour labour £60 + tax oil and filter , sundries total inc tax £ 151.00

3rd service December 18 . 12,046 miles 8 hour labour £60 + tax oil and filter , air filter RSV4 , plugs , gaskets and sundries . Valves checked and adjusted. inc tax £ 728.75

4th service June 19. 17,655 miles . 1.70 hours labour £60 + tax oil and filter , sundries , headlight bulb . £ 205.80 inc tax

5th service January 20 . 24,670 miles . 11 hours labour £ 60 + tax oil and filter , air filter RSV4 , no plugs on invoice , gaskets , sundries . Valves checked and adjusted . £989.45

I cant give info on the valve adjustments had hoped to get that info but the dealer had health issues and other personal stuff going on just at the time of those service's but i know they do have the info and will get it one day.

I was wrongly in the belief the service intervals 6000 miles but they are not it's 10,000 km or 6,213 km so when you get what i called the second service at 6,000 miles it's
1,000 km 0r 621 miles + 10,000 km or 6210 miles = 6831 miles for your second service but always check that for your selves . every time i have been in for a service after the service the spanner light has come up on the dash because i have been in to early so i have ridden around with that fu----g light on for over 12,000 miles because its only the dealer that can turn it off with the PADS system when plugged into the dash not the ECU
