V2 and V4 rider comparisons

I've always loved Alfa Romeo cars and I've had a few over the years including my current cage. Alfa fans are known as Alfisti so what does that make Aprilia fans? Aprilisti?

Anyway I'm sure a number of you have been riding Aprilia's and particularly the Tuono for years so I'd be interested to read some real world opinion on your V4 ownership versus your time with the V2. How do they compare?

I haven't decided which to go for yet and it's tricky getting a test ride to be honest. My nearest Aprilia dealer that sells road bikes and not just scooters is Blade in Swindon and they don't have a V4 demonstrator at the minute. The V2 isn't easy either without putting full asking price in someone's hand or signing up to a huge insurance excess.

Thx.

Never tried the V2 but am totally loved up with my V4 and will be playing out on it again after work today :thumbup Rob

I think most of the dealers are getting their v4 demos in soon.
Just going from my mates say so at s+p in Exeter.

Having had both , i think the best way to answer your question is .. the V2 made me grin like an ***** , the V4 makes me laugh my frigging head off as its proper nuts :yes . but both are bloody brilliant .

An old member on here had a V2 for yrs, got a V4 and sfter 2 weeks went back to the V2. Said it had more character.

Same thing happened years ago with old gixer 11's.

Loads of people (myself included) put them in for new blades.

But soon regretted it. Although the new bikes were better in most ways they just did not have the same amount of character.

The V4 has bags of character and is unequivocally the best bike I have ever ridden. I've not had the pleasure of an older Tuono though, do can't comment or compare.

Got both in the garage as we speak although the V2 Black Dream Factory is sold.

Completely different bikes but simplified, the V2 has a lot of character but the V4 is just a missile loaded with technology"¦.#LUVIT :thumbup

Had a first generation for several years, the V4 is quite a bit faster. The rotax was a gem but there really is no comparison.

I had a gen 1 v2 for 2 years and thought the bike was ace, they are ace but had a v4
Now for 2months and its a different animal altogether.
You wouldn't be disappointed with either I dont think but if you want something out of this world
And totally different to anything you've ever ridden then v4 all the way :)

I have a v2...tried the v4, and it's a missile by comparison.
The v4 is way smoother, and the power delivery is linear...like a leccy motor....but tbh, if you take the manic accelleration away, it does nothing better than the v2.
After about an hour of tomfoolery I took it back to the dealers, my V2 then felt sluggish by comparison (it's definately not)
The v2 is a far more engaging ride imho....and as such has waaaayyy more character.
Just my 2 penneth....good luck for whatever you get.
