Hi guys,
I recently posted a thread asking for help in how to prop up the front of the bike so i could change my forks and remove the yokes!!
Well...ive got round that very easily, so i thought id share this bit of knowledge with you as well as some pics to show you how!!!
Step 1- Lift the rear end off the floor using a rear paddock stand.
Step 2- Then lift the front end with a front paddock stand.
Step 3- Remove all fairing so you can gain access to the oil cooler.
Step 4- Unbolt the oil cooler from its mounting bracket.
Step 5- Push the oil cooler down gently as not to stress the connections to
much.
Step 6- Grab 2 car axle stands and place one either side of the bike in line
with the oil cooler mounting bracket.
Step 7- Use a thick/strong piece of wood and wedge underneath the
mounting bracket and onto each axle stand.
Step 8- Please note: DO NOT REMOVE THE FRONT WHEEL YET!!!! As this is
your safety net.
Step 9- Remove the front paddock stand gently while the full weight is
lowered onto the mounting bracket, checking full stability all the way.
Step 10- The mounting bracket is VERY strong so dont panic!!! Just make
sure your block of wood and axle stands are stable!! Then when you
feel this is secure replace the front paddock stand.
Step 11- Now you know it can take the weight of the bike plus the front
wheel...you can remove the front wheel lightening the load even
more.
Step 12- Once removed...remove the front paddock stand and slowly lower
back onto the wood rest.
Step 13- You may now continue the removal of your forks.
Step 14- PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE STABILTY OF THE BIKE
THROUGHOUT YOUR CHANGE OVER...FOR YOUR SAFETY & THE BIKE!
Pics are attched just to give you an idea of what the set-up looks like. Throughout this, you get used to how the bike rests and will know if the bike feels unstable or not!!
Just got to get a few bits and the Ohlins can be installed....Hooray!!!:thumbup
