Hi all.

This looks like a bunch of guys who know a thing or two about rsv's.

I bought an aprilia this morning after riding jap bikes for years and I am unsure about a few things. Its an 02 registered bike and it seems very clean. It is very very fast (i mean jaw dropping fast!). But the clutch is very stiff. (i mean the lever is hard to pull in). Maybe its because my old bike had a cable clutch but i am not sure. Are the clutch levers stiff on this model?
Also the bike just feels soooo different to ride compared to my old gixer. It feels a lot more "violent" if you know wot i mean?
Sorry if this is a bit vague. It may be that I just need to get a few miles in on this bike.
Also can anyone tell me the exact model this is?

as far as the clutch goes, have you tried bleeding the hoses and adding fresh fluid? :O

From the pic, I would say it is a standard Mille that someone had added OZ's and an Ohlins rear shock to.
Nice to see that they have repositioned the rear brake m/cyl, so at least you should have a good reliable rear brake.
The clutches are pretty stiff compared to most other bikes - get yourself an MPL cylinder off of eBay if it is an issue for you.

Thanks for the info, and for the warm welcome. I will start by replacing the fluid as I have got to do the rear brake aswell due to it being non existant!

The bike has an led rev counter that I assume is an aftermarket part. Does anyone know where i can get some instructions for it?

hello Black sabbath i've got an 01 myself and as little1 uk said the clutch should be really soft i only ever use 1 finger and don't take that the wrong way so that will need looking at but once thats done you should really start to enjoy it....

Surprised at problems with the rear brake with a relocated master cylinder - hopefully a good bleed with the rear caliper unbolted and suspended higher than the m/cyl.

In my opinion, that should be aimed at the nearest bin!
Why would anyone bother when the bike already has a shift light as standard that most people seem to dislike anyway? :confused

welcome mate . that looks like a normal mille with oz wheels thrown on , clutch _if its really stiff check your slave cyclinder ....(release cyclinder as aprilia call it) could be faulty:thumbup

Hi.I got 02 RSV-R,the clutch is realy hard.I´ve changed the fluid for an DOT 5.1,and after few kkilometers its stil clean, but the clutch is still very hard.

Thanks for all the advice chaps. I have been riding the bike for a week or so and the clutch feels better now. Not sure if its just loosened up (the previous owner hadn't rode it for a while). Or maybe I just needed to get used to it being stiffer than my gixer one. Now I just need to sort out my back brake and another little niggle is a stiff throttle. I will see about lubricating the cables. RussoRsvr, welcome to the stiff clutch clique )
