I know its been here before but about to order my new rubber, should it be diablo corsa 111 or the pilot power 2ct, forget the price which are the best all round ? I will ride at least one track day and the rest of the time will be spent in the NorthWest/East of England riding with my brother on his 1098s. I ride in all conditions so this must also be taken into consideration, especially being up North. I want to take advantage of the RSV and ride it to its best, I donot expect more than 3tho out of a rear but would like the front to last 2 rears. Which tyre guys? also going for the 190/50 I donot want chain strike?
I think I have got it down to these 2 if wrong please fell free to point me in the right direction. RIDE SAFE guys and have a great 2010. Ken

I've just gone through a set of Corsa III tyres and they were awsome in all weathers:thumbup

But I am now going to change to a set of Supa Corsa BSB which are even better in the dry but crap in the wet. Don't do rain :roll

2ct's are awesome all weathers.

I've used supercorsa before and loved them too especially on track. However they take a lot longer to get upto temp on the road. I bet the corsa III are good but I've never tried them.

Living where you live, and doing a single track day, I'd be very tempted to use something thats good in crap conditions and also hard wearing. Avon Storms are Sports Tourer tyres but if you ride throughout the year, you want em on right now, best wet tyre period. Good in the dry too. I'd suggest different if you were like doing a track day a fortnight or if this was the hottest July on record.............just an alternative take, I think how tyres perform when the going gets crap is the single most important factor.

I agree also. The tyres these day are far far better than pretty much all of us in terms of how much performance we can use out of them especially riding on the road.

The most important thing about tyre choice is that it is used within it's operating temperature range so that it offers acceptable grip levels within a wide temperature range. I would hate to be riding out there with Supercorsas for example at the moment as they just won't offer any real grip in these cold, damp temperatures. However on a track day in 80 degrees of heat then it's happy days.

There are some who will only buy the latest track tyres for their bikes as that is what they feel they are comfortable with which is fine. There are others who will buy the correct tyres for the type of riding they are doing, i.e all year round rinding and Avon Storms for example are perfect for this and offer 85 - 90% of the maximum ultimate grip available of the track day tyres at the higher temperatures reached on a track. For normal road riding where the tyre temperature reached is lower, then the Avon Storms will be similar, if not, offer better grip as they are designed to work within this temperature range.

The best compromise in my opinion are Michelin Pilot Power 2CT. An excellent road / occasional track day tyre which will last considerably longer than Pirelli Diablo Corsas for example.

I dont know about the road mileage but I tried the supercorsa bsb tyres on my trackbike and the grip was awesome, but I only got 3 trackdays out of the rear, that was two at rockingham and one at mallory, so they are soft.

Thanks for the info Guys, thinking pilot power 2cts they get the thumbs up on this web site. Hope we all get out soon the weather is driving me mad the bike wants to be out. Ride safe and have a good 2010. Ken.

i rode in on corsa 3's this morning if that helps. Only one dodgy spot was gants hill roundabout which has been tarred over and is now slippy as a slippery thing!
