Tyres for 2017 Tuono V4 RR 1100

Hi all, I'm just about getting to the point where I need to change tyres for the first time on my 1100 V4 RR , I want to cope with fast road work but do touring so must also consider wet roads & milage, can anyone recommend a grippy tyre to suite? Cheers Simon

Metz M7rrs - I'm on my 2nd rear 1st front of these. Good wet tyre, cold temps etc and will let you ride a decent enough pace knee down on the corners etc you just can't get on the throttle as early as a dedicated fast road/occasional track tyre

Pirelli Rosso 3 which are meant to be similar to the Metz but fractionally worse in the wet and better in the dry

Not really a bad tyre out there tbh but it's a personal choice

Hi I have a 2017 factory and after the super corsa wore out I wanted something that warmed up and didn't make me sh** myself when it rained to be honest the super corsa didn't slip at the front but the back spun up a few time but I had slowed right down and was riding nervous , with my riding I don't think the super corsa got into its working heat zone enough or ever then you have to slow down or stop at lights so I ended up going for Michelin Road 5 " now I can here you lot all laughing and saying what a tart " yes they are the other end of the scale to the corsa but my first set I got 6100 miles both front and rear wore out at the same time have run them in wales raining at 3 c and 2100 miles in Italy and Switzerland at 35 c and the other 2 Tuono factory's I was with were on super corsa and Michelin Rs and we ran the same all hols .
have replaced them with a new set and then went and did a novice trackday at Oulton park ok I am not a hard rider , rode the bike to the track each session did 3 warming laps and only the instuctors passed me when all warmed up and got my knee down did 167 miles on track that day so what I am trying to say if you don't ride really hard one of the top sport touring tyres will do well for a road rider and work in all weather and be at operating temp had to go down to a 190 at the rear

Michelin pliot power 2ct's all you ever need for road riding shame they don't do a 200 rear, as they would be on my factory.

Metzeler Sportec M7RR's are a good all rounder tyre. Grippy in the wet and dry with good feed back, and reasonable mileage for touring

I had Road 5's on my 1290 sdr for a hurl to The Spanish Picos.

The tyres edges are sports tyre soft but the center is much harder wearing.

Can't say what mileage to expect, got rid of that machine, put just short of 3k miles on that trip but they still looked newish.

Currently got Michelin power rs's on my duc but the edges on the rear are wearing quicker than the center part.

This has resulted in a pronounced ledge between the compounds (about 2-3mm)
Can't say I've noticed it yet when riding but seems and looks weird.

Had a similar thing with the Michelin 5s that the carbon black outer had worn a groove but it was past the join of the 2 compounds for me i only noticed when i took them off and was looking them over . Have been reading about M7rr people seem to love them and keep going back after trying others so could be next set thanks for the heads up

Gone back for third set of Road 5's. Second set got 5400 miles down to 1mm on the first wear bar's hadn't worn as much of a groove on outer carbon black as much as the first set but ran through winter so will see how this set last with a run round northern Spain this summer

ive had pilot road 3,s on mine for the past 2 yrs , great all round tyre great confidence booster in the wet brilliant in the dry .

so the natural progression for me would be pilot road 5,s !!!

Hi all, new here. Just googled for the best tyres for the V4, and I came across this thread. Just wondered what you guys were running on your bike at the moment. I saw this guide which recommends either the Bridgestone S22 or Pirelli Corsa 2 as a good fast road tyre. Just wondered if any of you guys were running these tyres and what you think to them?

Hi and welcome BikerBird , I have seen that guide before and notice they say 190/50/17 rear but I have only seen 190/55/17 or 200/55/17 for the rear on the 1100 Tuono . Don't think you can go wrong with either the Bridgestone S22 or the Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa 2 . I ran the S22 last summer after the first lock down and did most of the riding in Yorkshire and the Lakes , I know 2 other Tuono guys that run S22 and love them and another Tuono guy that put a set of the DRC2 on after the Supercorsa's and loved them we had gone to Spain ( had the bikes taken out there ) and rode 2000 miles out there and had 2 days of rain and I was surprised how well they did in the wet I was on Michelin Road 5 . Don't know which one I will go for when this set of 5's are done which will be less than 1000m it will be the S22 or DRC2
