Tyres again (soz)

Can any give me advice on the following please :dunno I'm thinking of putting a Bridgestone BT002 on the front and a Bridgestone BT016 on the back. The 002 is a race/street tyre and we all know about the 016 (180 section). What do you reckon ??

Ive got the 016's with 190/55 on the rear ,good tyres but Im down to the wear limits on the front in 1200 miles road rideing

Geez Vince thats quick, i've done 3600 on them now and am only looking to change the back.

Michelin 2cts all the way Buddy

190 55 rear 120 70 front excellent grip and wear rate is great!!

Why do you want to mix 2 dfferent types of tyre albeit from the same manufacturer?

Tyres are designed to work in pairs. You can fit them but as why :dunno.

The 3 best tyres at the moment are Michelin Pilot Power 2CT, Dunlop Qualifier 2's or Bridgestone BT 016

I'm with Legs, you could mix to match the two, but the question would be for what reason? I can understand running two different compounds of the 002 together (soft front, medium rear for example), but i'm not convinced i'd go for mixing an 002 with an 016, since effectively you will be running a front that will have a different operating heat range than the rear which could lead to some interesting handling moments on the road......

I guess the definitive answer would be to call Bridgestone and see what they say Matt :thumbup

As a side note, i've read plenty that with 'spirited' riding you'll see the 002 disappear in 1000-1500 miles.....

And there is my problem ! I love the 002 tyres and I trust the front with my life but, and a big but, the rear wears out in approx 900-1200 miles. This is why I'm thinking of fitting a 180 section 016. The 016 is still a sticky tyre but should give me more miles and get up to temp quite quick. I never go balls out on the road untill I've done approx 20mins of warming the tyres up anyway, so both front and back should be up to temp by then :dunno

I run 002's on mine,

on a previous set, i toured to france for the weekend
did a full summers trackday @ rockingham
& good 2k other miles & my rear was shot on profile but centre was still ok

If your suspension is set up well, you should still see good life out of them

I used to run the 014 couple years back till griff/roy sorted my suspension out as i was blowing a 014 in 900 miles which is much harder wearing than the bt002

I've got another set on a the moment which have done a trackday & about 1k miles so far
still lots left

I honestly cant fauly 2CTs having blasted up to the Isle of Man and back down again super tyre and has not let go at all ( apart from when i overtook on the chevrons with all the **** on the road)

Wouldnt buy another tyre now!!

+1 or I'd need a lot of convincing to spend my hard earned on something else.

+3 here.

I wouldn't be using a 002 through the winter mate with road temperatures etc. In the summer should be ok but again different temp rates from the 002 and the 016. I would always fit a matched pair on my ride dude.:thumbup

vince, how close is your 190 rear tyre to your chain? cause mine is very close indeed. so close that i can't even fit in a chain guard!

the chain is not touching the tyre at all, whereas the 190/50 quilifiers always rubbed the chain slightly,I think its down to manufactuers, some do & some dont
