Does the tyre need to be removed to replace a valve? It leaks around the base..

I thought so but was hoping I wouldnt. How easy is ot to remove and fit your own tyres without damaging the rim?

I have been recommended one but its OZ wheels I have and would be seriously pissed off if they were damaged.

Just wondered if its something I could reasonably do myself without to much f'in and blinding in the comfort of my own garage

Always had 90 degree valves on my OZ wheels :thumbup makes life easy to check pressures etc but not the type in your link, proper ones.

90 degree valves make life easy for you and a bit*h for the one doing the (proper) balancing... actually not for him but he has to put a lot more weights on the rim...

Yeah it's not to bad a job i do all mine, got a bead breaker, thats the hardest bit, and some descent lengh tyre leavers, rim protectors, and of course a static ballencer and stick on weight's, if you got/can get the kit, take yer time and you wont find it to sad.:biggrin

I do my own tyres! (well have done once!) I have levers and rim protectors.
There are ways of breaking the bead with a couple of bits of wood and a car or heavy workbench.
Currently watching some scrubs on ebay as I dont like paying full price for tyres!

If the tyres fitted properly ie with the red dots on the tyre fitted next to the valve then you should need very little weights if any at all. On my hybrid I didn't want weights ruining the look of the wheels so I fitted Dyna beads, expensive but work a treat.

I will go for standard valves as I have an adapter to use for pumping up anyway..

Surely you'll need a decent compressor too, to seat the tyre on refitting? I've all the gear and have no problem with Brembo or other cast wheels, but personally would get a pro to change tyres on Oz wheels, they mark & bend very easily.

Think ill get a pro on it. I love my oz wheels lots.

Cheers for all the replies
