Just a quick question for you. Need a set of tyres for the RSV, what is the difference between a 190/50 and 190/55 section rear tyre(apart from the price).
Looking at the Pilot Power 2CT or the DiabloIII ? Any advice would be appriciated.

The ride height is higher on the 55's than the 50's bigger percentage of people use the 190's rather than the 180's unless your a damn good rider or you want to ride bloody fast in the twisties you wont notice the difference. I personally use a 190 rear section and have no problem putting it into the corners and all the lads i know use the 190/50/17 but as to a lot of subjects on the forum it's all down to personal preference

Ahhh, the old tyre 'debate'. i just sold 190/55 2ct's with 600 miles on them, didn't care for them number of reasons, put on diablo rosso's, which act and feel better, but neither, i feel, are up to corsa's iii level, hence re-order again.
Obvious feel of less rubber and foot print when going back to 180, also wee bit 'quicker'. don't think i'll ever due 190/50 again, too rounded, not enough profile.
my 2 pennies.

I also run 190/50, considered 190/55 but they're more expensive and I am quite happy with the way the bike handles on the 190. Last set I had put on were 2CT's and I love them!! When I first rode down the road it felt like I was riding on fly paper they felt that glued to the road.

I think the diablo Rosso's were released on to the market aimed more at the 600 bikes more than the big bikes even though i know they will do a job but no where near the corsa III's

For what its worth, I ran Corsa III 180/55 on the rear for four years and loved them but recently changed to the new Bridgstone 016 190/50 by recomendation from my tyre guy (who also rides). I love them and they get heat into them faster than the corsas ever did. If you have warm weather and ride hard most of the time the Corsas are excellent, but realistically in the UK, something like the 016 is a better choice for retaining heat.

You pays your money and makes your choice :)

Tyres are a very personel thing. A few of the guy's on here are over the moon with there corsa111 yet a mate of mine bought the same tyre for his R1 and has taken them off after 200 miles saying the bike keep's running wide and the grips not there. When really he has not got any confidence in the tyre thats all. He was use to Racetechs with a 55 profile. It's what your comfortable with that counts. I use Dunlop Gp's they are the dog's dangly things in tyre terms.I will end up going back to Racetech's [maybe] as ive used them for years.Anyway 55 profile helps if you like a quick turn in it also give's you a better footprint and a slight edge at steep lean angles, most of the race guy's use 55/60 profile tyres. On the road you wont really notice any difference.:thumbup
