Hi boys, my RSV is a 2000 model, the current tyres have been on the bike since 04 (changing them due to age more than worn out) and they have performed immensely and have given great confidence in their ability. Have done Cadwell on 3 occasions over last three years, first time in novice group and went on my own, found it frightening and thrilling and couldnt wait to do another one, the next time in novice group with my two brothers (Tuono and R6). On this occasion i had that much confidence in the tyres and bike that i ended up leaning over that far that the rear bobbins on the axle lifted the rear, needless to say it was sky, grass, sky, grass etc...thankfully no major damage apparent and carried on for another two sessions until we noticed oil dripping from left hand side of the bike. Dry sump tank seam had split. Last year went to Cadwell with brother in intermediate group, and at dinner time (after 2hrs riding) the great Griff was about to set up my suspension when he noticed the bottom of the rear shock, the bolt hole that attaches the shock to the swing arm, part of it had gone so when weight was off the rear wheel, then the shock was lifting off the swing arm. Bummer. must have happened at previous Cadwell offing. Bike is toy status at present and luckily hadnt been out on it much. so obviously an ohlins went on the back, slightly lower than previous shock, forks where lowered on day one of owning bike. I dont think that with my ability that i would be able to tell the difference between the profiles of the tyres in all fairness, it is just a case of thinking if i have to change them, then i want to get it bang on because they will be on the bike untill i have had every penny out of them. I think i will just take it somewhwere and ask them to surprise me!
JP, i live in Coningsby, i have noticed that nearly all roads south of here were built by the romans, but north still has some bendy bits. I am going to Cadwell on 11th April for the day so will see if i can get a full day in this time? (better had or the missus will not be very happy!)
