Tyre advice

I have a Metezler M1 Sportec rear that is near as damn it new, and on the front I have a nearly shot pirelli dragon evo, I want to go over to BT016 as was wandering if I could put a BT016 on the front straight away and change the rear to a BT016 late on when the M1 is shot?

Are people using the BT016 with success??

If it was my bike I would change tyres as a matched pair. Not sure mismatched tyres is a good thing, but I might be wrong :dunno

Heard good things about the BT-016's tho' :thumbup

Tim, I'm running a set of BT016's and they are awesome tyres.

Not done that many miles on them but what I have done I have to say was a pleasure. They inspire confidence from the outset and once warmed up grip way beyond my capability.

I paid just over £200 for the set fitted, had Pirelli Super Corsa Pro's before and they where crap until you had done 5 mile plus and got some heat in them, forget it if it rained.

The M1s are a super sticky tyre aswell but i reckon i wont get much more than 1500 miles on them

I had the same problem with Super Corsa's. I thought it was me. As it was either wet or cold when I ran mine (including a trip to Italy). Didnt get any confidance until we had 1 nice day in the alps. Probably wont use again. I was running Dunlop Qual. PP. which I liked but new bike has 207s.

I always change both tyres together. Regardles.

HLLO there. I have the metzler on my new 07 and the rear has 3400 on it and it is on the way out.as far as running miss matched tires.for the street i have done it and it was no biggy i have done many track days on 208 dunlop on the front and ran a pereli corsa on the rear.fun slids but controllable.:doug SO IF YOU CANNOT TO WAIT AND NEED A REAR IT WONT HURT BUT YES, THE SAME MAKE TIRE IS A GOOD IDEA.D

I'd never run anything other than matched pairs personally.

If you run mismatched tyres be careful, very careful. I know of at least one case where an insurance company invalidated a claim due to mismatched tyres (check the fine print), as no manufacturer will guarantee the performance of its tyre when fitted with another manufacturers at the other end.
No tests other than riders on experiences have ever been conducted as to the safety of running mismatched tyres, personally I would rather not ride the bike than risk it.

I run 016 and like alan think the are the mutts.
I have done 2000 miles on them and they still arent flat in middle despite a good tour of france including an a1 trip to portsmouth, and offer the same performance as when they were new, and no chicken strips on my rubber :devious:devious:devious
I personally would only run matching pairs

ive got a michelin power on the back and think its a bit soft.... well its either soft or a bloody nancy been riding it and seams like he has never ever gone round a corner. the middle is on the limit and the 2 edges are bloody perfect. makes me sick. it is so flat that when ive gone round a bend it sits upright on its own. i only bought the bike 6 weeks ago and before that i had a thundercat which i loved. that had metzeler m1's and they seamed to have so much grip even in the cold.
