Twin cans on Gen 1

Gen 1 twin cans
Hello, does anyone know of options to get twin cans for reasonable money on a gen 1, I dont fancy falco ones, also I wondered if a gen 2 collector would mate with gen 1 down pipes? The other option I guess would be modded collector mod but fancied twin cans.

Falco headers are the same size as the single system Mille headers just the outlets are smaller were the mufflers bolt up... Have a set coming soon to try out so once here I'll do a review .
 
Welly, why aren't you keen on the falco ones if you're looking for a budget system? If its performance then you'll need to go for the Akra, Leo Vince, Tig (name?? german make) or Arow system but if its just looks then for cheapness a falco fills the brief. However thier are a few that have mated the GENI header flange to the GENII downpipes with success.
 
I like the sound of the gen 2 collector, do you know if they are the same diameter and alignment? more options for cans then
 
I'm not aware of the GENI downpipes fitting the GENII collector (I believe it may be an alignment thing?!) PM DR Rossi on here as he's done the grafting of GENI flance to GENII downpipes - he will have more insight into it.
 
my haga has twin pipe akras standard, and I`v noticed the left belly pan panel has a cut out for the down pipe. So I dont know if you would have to modify your fairing to accommodate this. something to look into..
 
yep, the bellypan will need trimming back to accomodate :thumbup
 
I think you need renegade twin pipes,they are like ducati ones in so much that they split on right as they pass over swingarm, they are like hens teeth [rather rare i have only seen one other than mine and thats ecosse,a scottish [like me ] lad.good luck rooting in hens mouths!keep safe
 
SL-1000 system turned up in the post so removed my modified single collector .... back header nuts are abit tricky to get too , 1/4" swivel drive sorted that & undoing the tank to get the top one not a biggy but just had to figure out the method .. Since they came off the same type motor they fitted up mint , then it was just trying get the LeoVince Ti SBK mufflers which came off a 06 TuonoR to fit up which has taken bit of time but are now at the stage that I can bring home my welder from work & tack them into place then remove them & then argon purge them & Stainless steel weld them up using HF pulse tig . Complete system
$199 E-bay , 2 Ti SBK mufflers secondhand $400 , 2 Genuine carbonfibre Akropovic hangers secondhand $80 .... $680 for a full system is alot better than $3500 for a Akro or Tigcraft etc ... If it works well I may make a Jig up & make a 60mm system from the same shape . Road test this week once I get time to weld connectors into the mufflers & will post up how the bike runs compared to my proven setup .

You have to have the complete system headers are different ... I was hoping the collector would just bolt up to the stock Mille headers but NOOOOOOO that would be to easy LOL no biggy tho once sorted out method in my other post ... Have welded the connectors to the inner link pipes which go into the mufflers & test road to make sure that nothing was going hit or rub against the swingarm or linkages etc & all sweet ... got my measurements right but it took afew days to sort the left side as the swingarm is wider making lining up the mufflers very tricky ... 2nite was spent trying to put the body work back onto the bike , next problem was having a pipe coming out the left side of the bike & not having the lower panel allowing it to do this , out with the grinder as with the right hand side lower panel for the front header as it is alot lower & rest against the bottom of the bellpan as does the rear header down pipe . Abit sad cutting into perfect body work but it had to be done , but the total perfomance improvement over a Dual modified sinlge collector is night & day different it not even funny .... it is just that good !! A lot cheaper than $3500 for a Tigcraft or Akropovic system ... More spare parts to put in the cupboard to go with the last 5ys of development bits I have tryed & used in my Quest for the perfect setup for Drag racing / Road blasting .. Nothing like trying things to prove the do or don't work rather than listern to hear say . " Go the mighty Aprilia "

Sensei, are you saying you think the falco collector is better than the dual mod single system or is this a 60mm system you're talking about?

I'm not saying Deacs I Know !! No this is a stock SL-1000 complete system I brought off E-Bay for $200 ..The same one everyone says is **** & not worth putting onto a bike .. I have put this system on & have the most accurate back to back comparison from making my own Dual single header with Twin Arrow Shotgun muffler , 57mm throttle bodys with Dual separate PCIII map ported head's & Race fuel ... Took off my single system & bolted the SL 1000 system on changed nothing else & road tested a bike I have Drag raced & road raced & personally developed myself for the last 5ys so I know what works & what is just ******** .. This system work's with my bike's setup & don't see any resaon why it wouldn't work on others .. Service a customers 02 RSVR with a Full 60m Tigcraft system on it & my bike pulls harder everywhere ... Maybe down to the small header diameter size not 100% sure , but the single pipe will not be going back on the bike I know that for a fact ! Everyone else are intitled to do & use what ever they choose that the freedom of personal taste .

hhmmm ............. well thats good enough for me!! I was going to put a dual mod single on my trackbike but think I'll play around with the falco headers I've got.

Not track road racing Steve ... Back road stuff / closed roads etc where full power , top gear runs are possible to sort out performance correctly .. Will be trying to get to afew Track days in next year work permitting .. I also have 3 TT500 yamaha's I spend time on developing as well ... one I use for VMX racing & another I have Motarded & are setting up the last one for abit of both .. Have spent the last 4 days riding my Mille around with my new system on & are kicking myself for not doing it sooner , just because I had read somewhere it wasn't worth using !!! Glad I went with trying it out ..
 
sensei, i used a renegade dual system and went to a dual modded header with out any difference in power

but its good the system works for you
