Hey folks, I'm planning on taking the Tuono for a run down to the Alps this summer and I could do with some advice about panniers (I can't bring myself to stick a box on the tail). Can anyone recommend anything that works well, if you have any pictures that would be awesome. Cheers.

I have one of those small racks.

I can get all I need into a squashy sports bag, put that in a bin liner to keep the water out and use plenty of bungees.

High exhausts are no good with panniers.

Does the ventura system let me put bags on the sides? The few that came up when i did a brief search were just tail packs.

No, they are bags that go over the rack, either as a single bag or a twin zip together system.

This is really frustrating, no one seems to do a soft luggage rack for the Tuono. Starting to wish I'd bought the bloody speed triple.

How much luggage space do you need??
The Ventura system is amazing kit.
It's the choice of serious hooners.
Zip 2 Spada bags together...and you've got 102 litres of storage.
Ventura IS the luggage quickest and easiest to mount. It's the quickest and easiest to to take off.
And it's about a million times more secure than hang over saddlebags.
No stretchy bungee straps, No bungee hooks, nothing to work loose or fall off.
Fact is, there's nothing quite like it. It's 10/10 gear.
It's not cheap.....but for a Tuono it IS the best.

Exactly what T said....... Just so happens I have a system for sale too !! ( gen 2 ):yes

Is this whit yer lookin fir.

They all say ventura kit is great and who am I tae disagree,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,pity it places all it's loaded weight high over the rear of the machine.

That wiz markl mucker and done to suit mivv suono cans.

It took awhile to do, but now done and used, subsequent frames have a datum to work from.

Aye g, still a bit of a palaver but if I ever make another it wid be slimmed down, less obvious and less industrial.

Cheers mucker. :thumbup

I recently picked up a set of Nelson-rigg cl950 bags for $100 (usd) for the set, but they were bigger than I needed, (about 20 litres per side) and you can buy the top attachment bag as well., they are more than I need so I got the Nelson rigg cl890 set, they are about 11-13 liters per side, but can be expanded to about 19 per. will post pics tomorrow after I put them on. (don't require any hardware).
heres the link.

Those look really good Aldo, looks like you could strap a tent to the top, are you planning on making a small batch???

I have the Kreiga tank bag - it fits with a couple of velcro straps under the seat, and two which loop over the upper crash bungs.
Its pretty easy to fit, and comes in 10L and 20L sizes.
The 10L is a bit on the small side if Im honest, but at least its easy to get on and off, and doesnt put excess weight where you dont want it.
Ive got a pic somewhere of it on the bike - if you are interested Ill dig it out and upload it.

i made some discrete brackets that bolt on either side of the bike to support my oxford panniers . they work very well . some where on here there is a thread .
