Just returned from a two week trip down through France and the Alps. Sadly the blast was overshadowed a bit by the clutch cylinder on my 2007 Factory leaking badly on the 2nd day into it !! Bit miffed as the bike had only covered 5k and spent a stressfull time constantly toping up the fluid and wondering if I was going to get back to Blighty!.

Anyone had similar issues? and can tell me if the seal/s are available separately or is it an expensive kit job. I'm sure I saw somewhere talk of an alternative slave cos I dont want to repeat the experience every 5k !!

Gratefull for any advice

dont know about seals / repairs etc, but there are a few alternatives around. I bought the MPL one, lot lighter clutch and im really happy with it

:)

Thanks for that Felix, where can I find details of the MPL unit and who sell them ? Cheers

Alternate slave cylinders are also manufactured by Oberon in the UK and Evoluzione in the Us as well as MPL in Germany.
I have an MPL slave, but i had to have replacement seals after a few years - the Evo one has a lifetime guarantee.
FWIW Griff at Aprilia performance sells the Oberon ones,

mine starting leaking at around 13,000 miles, Griff replaced it a couple of months ago with an Oberon for me, for around £90, took him around 15/20 minutes to do. Clutch action is now lighter, and the fluid still hasn't gone black 4,000 miles later !

Mine leaked on the Gen1 so I fitted EVO and did 30k miles and it's now fitted to my Gen11 with a further 9k miles, still on original seal..

windy

mine keeps leaking on my gen1, had new seals fitted twice and still weeps every now and then so reckon its the housing, gonna have to bite the bullet and get an oberon slave. :rolleyes

Think someone in the trade's been reading this thread.......several ad's for oberon slave cylinders suddenly appeared on e-bay !

Yeah iv just seen them magically appear on ebay lol, 92 squid seems a bit steep tho, anyone know where u can get them any cheaper?

To be fair that's what i paid direct from Oberon, but sure, if there's any for sale cheaper it would be good to know.

Thanks for all your replys and advice Guys, have decided to bite the " Billet" !! and go for a new Oberon unit. Just need to get my arse back to those stunning alpine roads to pick up where I left off !!
