tuono engine cut out problem #2

To avoid offence.....I would appreciate any info on the following. I am new to the site and will risk throwing this one in at this early stage. I would wait for a few months and few hundred visits but the problem is current and bugging me.

I have a 2007 tuono which has an engine cut out issue. I'd start it up and run it for a few minutes then ride off. About 2 miles down the road... complete shut down as if someone has taken the keys out. I'd leave it for a few minutes and then it would start up again.... a mile later same thing.. Once it's really warm it doesn't seem to happen. Local dealer changed the fuel pump relay, seemed to do the trick but the prob has come back. Anyone have any ideas??

If this request has offended anyone in any way please accept my apologies as no offense was intended. :thumbup

just a thought, but does the T have an exhaust lamba sensor, i think they do, but i,m not sure. if so thats the puppy i,d get checked. but it needs to go on a diagnostic.

Been giving this problem of yours some thought. Maybe its fuel? I wonder if your tank breathers are blocked? (mine were at the base of the tank, they look like 2 small brass nipples) this could cause the motor to stop as the vacuum would prevent fuel flowing, but not as quick as if the keys had been removed though

Have you tried disconnecting and re-connecting the clocks? it could be a poor connection in the block connector at the back of the clocks? also check your earth points, a loose one could give the problems you are having such as a loose battery terminal etc...

The more I think about it the more I reckon its electrical, although it can't be terminal becasue the bike starts up again. I'd go round the bike (lift the tank) and double check every single electric block connector you can see, maybe open them all and a put a smear of silcone grease in them as well.

Failing that a full diagnostic at your dealer should throw up any traceable issues. If you can hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the key that should elimate the relay (i'd have thought??)

Sorry but I can't think of anything else, hope you get it sorted though. Be sure to let us know what the outcome is

Just warm the pig up a bit before you set off.
2 mins is no good , most would stall if you just started and set off.
The engine won`t like it so give it a chance for all parts to be splashed librally with lubricant.
See Shvl , big words lol
