Hi everyone, its good to be here, especially as a future Tuono owner.

I will have the bike by next Tuesday, maybe Wednesday.

I found a new (0 km) black Tuono, the dealer claims is a 2008 leftover and is full black with blue rims. From what i've seen on the web this is a 2007 model. The 2008 black came out fully black with black rims.

Anyone can confirm that?

Thanks a lot.

Hi achilles, it's easy to check. Have a look at the chassis number by the headstock if it reads for example - *ZD4RR108 followed by 9 numbers it is an '08 model if that number is 7 you have an '07 bike. Hope this helps.

Thanks! I will definitely check that out. From what i know, the bikes are identical (07-08-09) apart from color variations.

The bike has been idle in the shop for at least a year now (stickers have all dried out) so i was worrying about the status of engine oil and the battery. I told the dealer to make sure he puts in fresh oil and have his mechanics check pretty much everything.

The bike is super, i can't wait for that first wheelie....

Also achilles get the dealer to change the front sprocket to the 15 tooth the improvement in tractability is enormous.

And what about ZD4RRL00+++++++++ ?

I got it!!!:cheers The bike kicks ***!

The chassis number is ZD4RR1009 XXXXXXXX, so i suppose came out of a 09 production line?

Hi achilles, delighted you collected the bike. When it goes in for the first service the dealer will probably switch to map 2, ask him to change the front sprocket to 15t at the same time. makes the bike so much more tractable with only marginal loss of top speed. Approx 164 MPH down to 156MPH. You'll possibly find 140/145 MPH plenty to hold onto. Enjoy the beast.

Hi Achilles, I have just bought a new 08 model, it has the black wheels, I paid £6800 including Acrapovics from dealer, and as streetbike says get the front sprocket changed, cost me an extra £20 but worth every penny, I also put a larger rear sprocket on for wheelie purposes, but probably not needed as the bike lifted ok without it, it is excellent around town now though. :thumbup

Thanks!:cheers

First feedback from the new beast:

The engine's torgue is orgasmic, the breaks are from outter space, it sounds like a grizzly, even with the factory exhausts (akrapovic on the way..), looks mean ( i love the blac-grey/blue rim combo) and corners like a rabbit, although it is a demanding bike when negotiating. It's not as easy as cornering a Japanese sportsnaked, its a bike with character overall.:thumbup

I found the positioning of the flash lights etc, not so convenient, they are placed as if the bike's been made for giants. Plus, the dashboard absorbed moisture after riding the bike 5km away from the dealer.:thumbdown I am wondering is that's a Tuono/Aprilia feature or just tough luck.

Apart from minor details, the bike simply kicks ***!:cheers

Hi achilles, check out my signature!! Book into your dealer and order the replacement clocks - under warranty. Dealer will probably need to take pictures of the misted clock to send to the Factory. They are acutely aware of the problem so should be no big deal. Regards

It will be replaced under warranty within the next few days. :thumbup

The more the bikes breaks in the smoother it gets, and the more i like it. Its a well built machine with quality parts all over. I love this sense of quality, which was not the case with a Kawasaki Z750 i used to have, before it got stolen.

I adjusted the suspension, tuned fork compression and rebound and just rebound in the rear shock, as i dont have the right tool.

I'll try the setting proposed by the manual as a start and then i'll fine tune it.

Any suggestions?

PS: photos of the beast on the way.

Im getting an Ohlins shock fitted to mine next week, the OE unit is about £5 worth of kit...pants.

Worth raising the forks a notch or two aswell. Done mine by one and its made a huge difference, not only to turning but also to the way it acts over bumpy ground. I'm actually having the forks revalved next week as by all accounts it makes a huge difference.

I love the Tuono, but its rubbish over bumpy stuff and can really unsettle the bike in a corner, unless you barely touch/hold the bars. This is a shame as its so close to being a perfect bike otherwise...looks like its worth paying the extra for a Factory model...oh, well you live and learn.

Consider yourself blessed for not having to ride on Greek roads:banghead

What would be the cost of a full Ohlins kit in the UK?

Regarding my initial question, the 10th digit of the VIN number is the year of the bike's production from 1981 (i think) onwards.

My 10th digit is 7, which stands for 2007. I have a few questions:

- Are all european 2007s at 139PS?
- What's the procedure of switching to map 2? What's the difference in horsepower?
- Is map 2 necessary when switching to an aftermarket muffler? (Akrapovic to be installed in my case)
- How is fuel consumption affected by map 2?

Cheers!!:thumbup

Hi achilles, your bike is likely to be switched to map2 at the first service. There is normally no charge as it is part of the service routine. I don't think the BHP changes from the 139 that certainly all UK bikes are from about 2007, I do not know about European models. I hope this helps a tad oh, I nearly forgot fuel consumption stays thirsty!!!

Hi guys I,ve obviously bought the better model FACTORY. :thumbup Oh well Ohlins rule eh!!!!!!!!! :cheers
Perry

ive got the factory and it still tries to shorten your spine on bumpy roads. i'll put up with that though for the times when that perfect set of twisties comes along
