Tuono 1000R or Factory

Hey guys (and girls?)

Im over in NZ and am looking at purchasing a Tuono.. The current model 08 Tuono 1000R is $21k NZD and the Factory is $28k with Leo Vince pipes / K&N filter and re-mapped... My only problem is this... I intend to pay cash for my next bike which means I will not be able to purchase it until December 09.. What is the depreciation on these bikes?

I have been searching for the "right" bike for months and nothing has "done" it for me... Until I saw the Tuono...

Also Im thinking for the few extra thousand I should just get the Factory??

Any help/advice really appreciated!

Cheers:thumbup:thumbup

welcome mount :cheers

like most things new, depreciation off the lot is an almost immediate 20% or so. I think Aprilias depreciate a little bit better than most japanese bikes, but its certainly not going to hold its value. I applaude you for waiting to pay in full with cash, but it sounds like you're going to have quite the weight. The factory costs 33% more than the R, but it might be worth it if you're waiting until Dec for the new models to come out.

I'd probably go with the R, then i wouldn't feel as bad when i started adding parts to it....that and you'll be on the road sooner.

Thanks for that... I don't mind the wait as I have other bikes I can ride.. Just there not a Tuono.. I have definatly decided on the Factory model-cant say no to the carbon bits and that Ohleins suspension and the oz wheels....

Have just been online and priced the following bolt on bits...

Undecided on a PCIII
Ak Evo 6 full exhaust (Ti) :drool
Aprilia Anti theft
License plate aprilia bolt set and valve covers
Axle/frame sliders
crg gold shorty brake and clutch
race airbox (the one that makes the tank the airbox)
k&n filter
aprilia tank and saddle bags
License plate relocator
Taller screen
Carbon Goodies:
Expansion chamber
Oil tank
footrests

Oh and an AF1 keyring... :thumbup

Il order these June 09 so they are here by November... Im pretty sure il manage to buy it earlier than December. Anyone recommend anything else?

I just hope the world doesnt end between now and then! :crazy

if you're going to get a full system and do the airbox mod, you'll definitely want the PCIII. also get a dyno day for a custom map. :burnout

Nice shopping list - considering the $NZ
Do the more experienced fella's out there know if the current Akra slipons are the same as the silencers supplied with the evo Ti kit?

Hey Factory Man..

Looking closely at the pictures and also there relative size to pipes etc it looks like the cans on the EVO6 system are actually shorter then the other Ti slip ons... My local Aprilia guy seems to think they are different as well...

Im freaking hugely jealous... Make sure ya keep in touch and tell me what its like to live with....

Cheers!

i always thought the Aprilia pipes were cored for less sound than the standard EVO. Couldn't say though, never owned an Akra....yet :devious

I have the EVO6 as I replaced my Akrapovic slips for it. The length appears the same and so the picture must be deceiving. I think it may be because they are a bit fatter around. I may have to find an old pic of my bike and compare pic for pic and analyze that.

Now mountlocal1....If it were me, and I'm saying this only because I bought the Factory new from the dealer showroom at full sticker price.....If I had to do it all over again I would opt for the standard T.....maybe even a used T. Why? Because you can save a hell of a lot of money over a brand new Factory and then spend that hard earned cash on let's say BST wheels....1060 or better big-bore...Ohlins top suspension front & rear....Billit clutch and brake masters...all carbon & Ti goodies, and even possibly an EVO6.

Hmm prices in the UK are obviously a tad more aggressive than over various ponds.. as when i got my 07 R i could have had the factory fer a mere £1000 extra..... but the salesman lead me to believe the difference was purly cosmetic.. with my riding style i could have prolly done with the better suspension set up..

Oh well tis only money.... now wheres AF1's addy and my credit card..

Hmmm... I just jumped on the AF1 site to price all the goodies to turn a 1000R into a Factory.. $6868.00 USD Approx not including any fitting. Works out to $9573.30 NZD.
I have had a look around and there are few if not next to no used 1000R's for sale here in NZ.. I guess we are only a small country..
Now my dealer is currently selling 1000R's for $23995 NZD ($17200 USD) so Id be looking at a total of $33568.00 NZD or $24000 USD to turn a standard Tuono into a Factory.
The Factory is selling for $27995 NZD ($20000 USD) So if Im buyin new it just makes sense to buy the Factory.. Dont it?

:cheers:cheers:cheers:cheers:cheers and one for the road :cheers

Ouch! That exchange rate sucks for you UnZudders. It's like seeing what our US brethren are paying for theirs - makes you want to cry.

There are some of the best biking roads in the country located near both Brisvegas and Sydney. Dunno about Perth.
