Dudes,

Right the Tuoldo needs to be re-shod! But I cant seem to grasp the benefits of 180 over a 190.

So I am kneeling at this temple of infinite wisdom for all things Tuono and asking which one would you get and why?

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

Cheers :yinyang

Loads of threads on this. Someone did a poll (Dan I think) and people came out 50/50 on the benefits of both so split decision and personal choice. I cant tell the difference at speeds i ride on the road. Have a 180 on at mo newly shodden but would have a 190 next time just to see the difference. I can see my rear tyre lasting quite a long time though due the limited amount of mileage I'm doing at the mo.

There are 3 sizes that you can go for;
180/55 - is actually slightly taller than the 190 and as a result the bike turns in a tiny bit faster than the
190/50 - which is wider and fatter and supplies a tiny bit more contact area.
190/55 - which is sort of both.

Be aware that a Michelin 190 may foul the chain - Gen 2 swing arms are aligned differently and it doesn't happen.
Cost wise the 180/55 is the cheapest, but not really by enough to make it a reason.
Grip wise a 180 will give plenty, I dropped from 190/50 to 180/55 and can't say I have noticed any difference.

In the end - choose what you like the look of.

Thats one of the reasons I stuck to a 180 Bat cos someone posted a pic of a 190 on a Gen 1 and there wasn't much space between the swing arm and the tyre.

dont know about the t - but.... used to have an sv1000 running a 190 rear. changed to a 180 and managed to get the thing to change direction quickly without giving myself a hernia.

I went with a 180 2CT. Reason being I didn't want to risk tyre rubbing on the chain and I think the handling is improved for it. No shortage of grip at all. As far as I can tell the only real world advantage of the 190 is it looks good. That said the 190 pirreli I took off actually looks more narrow than the 180 michelin I put on !

180 for go, 190 for show

Yeah I've got a 180 Pilot Road 3 on mine and looks well wide enough. I think Batfastard did say though that Mitchelins were a little wider.

Having said that Gilo changed his 190 to a 180 and it doesn't look any different to me in all honesty.

I had a 180 onthe Tuoldo factory..... ok

I have a 190 on the Tuono and seems better to me .... BUT what do I know.

If it has a 180 on now then stick with that , there are no extra brownie points to gain

I've used both and don't really see much difference between them. I'm a cheapscate and always use part worns, a friend knows a guy who deals in racers part worns. He gets ones that have done superpole (3 laps) Dunlop GP Racer medium for 75 quid a set. I've used all variations of the 180-90/50-55 and there is very little difference.
