Trouble with 4th gear.

Hi all, been searching the forums but cant find any solutions to my problem.

I've started racing this year on a 2000 Rsv. It was running great until the last meet when its started getting really hard to get the bike into 4th/5th/6th.

I can get it into the gears but it requires a LOT of effort and leverage with my foot, and its tiring me out mid race.

Ive not changed anything to do with the clutch or gears and this has just come on. It dosnt do it on the paddock stands just at full chat.

Anyway any ideas???

I would say that the dog rings have started to wear out or have got damaged or the selector fork is bent maybe.

You maybe wise to get another engine as I believe its engine out and split the cases to get to the gear clusters

oh poo. I was hoping it wasnt something like that.

thanks for the quick reply though, next race is in 3 weeks so ive got to act fast.

Try bleeding your clutch circuit and see if that cures it, cheapest option and it sounds like it may cure your gear change issues!

cheers amb i'l get that done this week, if i can get a run out on it il let you know if it cures it.

If not i'l be in for the long haul.

Right bled the clutch today, looks like it may of sorted it, but wont be able to tell till next race. I tried it on the stands with no problem, and had a little blast down the road but cant really get up to race speeds.

Il post after next race to see how it goes.

Thanks again for the info
